- This position will be responsible for supporting a team that performs reviews of high-risk transactional activity at a globally thematic basis to identify trending financial crime typologies, coordinate risk mitigation initiatives and inform senior management on the results of these reviews.
- The incumbent is responsible for supporting leadership to ensure a globally and regionally consistent effort that enables the proactive identification of control weaknesses and financial crimes risk for escalation and mitigation.
- In connection with the Global Financial Crimes Division (GFCD), this position will:
- Leverage information and leads from the Data Insights and Analytics team to proactively investigate potential emerging risks to help inform GFCD strategy.
- Perform investigations as a result of proactively developed leads.
- Identify industry best practices to be leveraged by the GFCD Operations Training team.
- Work collaboratively across functional teams within GFCD to ensure effective and efficient operations with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
- Prepare communications and presentations to be shared with business line executives and senior management.
- Proactively identify regionally significant financial crime risk through collaboration with MUFG’s APAC branches’ Financial Crime Compliance Teams, Regional Financial Crime Compliance Risk Managers.
- Coordinate with GFCD Global Team and Regional Data Insights and Analytics Team on the development of bespoke typologies for global thematic reviews.
- Work collaboratively with MUFG’s APAC branches’ Financial Crime Compliance Teams as well as across functional teams within GFCD to review leads from thematic reviews, so as to identify potential subject of interests and observations on weakness in the Financial Crime Compliance Program.
- Keep senior level management regularly apprised of significant financial crime risk, responses to that risk, and any risk findings.
- Prepare communications and presentations to be shared with business line executives and senior management.
- Provide recommendations and takeaways to Global AML, Sanctions, ABC, Training and other functions based on information learned through the High-Risk Reviews.
Job requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business, or related experience
- At least 7 years of investigative or related experience with specific emphasis on AML, BSA and Financial Crimes at a financial institution, regulatory agency, or law enforcement agency
- Experience interacting effectively with the Executive Committee Leadership, control function leadership, and compliance subject matter experts
- Experience interfacing with banking regulators and enforcement staff
- Thorough understanding of an effective financial crimes risk management framework
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work autonomously and initiate and prioritize own work
- Proven excellence in execution in complex and demanding situations
- Solid judgment, strong negotiating skills, and a practical approach to implementation – including knowledge of Bank systems
- Ability to balance regulatory requirements with the best interests of the Bank and its customers
- Collaborative with strong interpersonal communication skills
- Systemic thinker across enterprise
- Process oriented with a strong ability to develop appropriate program enhancing strategies
- Detail-oriented and organized execution
- Executive-level presentation skills
