As a company we’re known in the industry as a group dedicated to giving back to the community by partnering with charitable groups and actively participating in fundraising events.Role overviewWe are looking for a Claims Officer to join our fast-paced New Zealand team in either our Auckland or Wellington office.This role will focus on handling liability claims and notifications, through to resolution by providing professional, timely and courteous service to our clients.Role responsibilities:

• Timely and courteous responses to brokers and insureds, acquiring further details on the claim and discussing the process and strategy going forward
• Appointing Panel Lawyers and Loss Adjusters as required
• Ability to handle matters within allocated delegated claims authority while referring complex/large matters to senior claims staff in a timely and efficient manner
• Analysing first report of claim, and underlying material to determine coverage.
• Investigate and determine liability, quantum and a strategy for resolution.
• Establishing and reviewing timely and accurate reserves.
• Assisting insureds with claims, determining and implementing defence strategy and where applicable, negotiating settlements.
• Responsible for discussing all aspects of past and current claims with Underwriters and providing advice on renewal and new business where appropriate.
• Assist Underwriters with wording of exclusions and extension clauses
• Providing timely and accurate updates and advice on closed claims, current claims and notifications.
• Providing advice in relation to risk management.

About youThis role is ideal for claims officers with a minimum of five (5) years in-house in claims handling with Liability products or paralegals with 3 – 4 years’ insurance experience looking to develop their skills with an in-house claims team or someone who would like to further develop their claims management skills, and is passionate about customer service.The ideal candidate will:

• Have excellent people and customer service skills
• Have the ability to negotiate in tough circumstances
• Be able to manage multiple claims whilst handling enquiries from all stakeholders via phone and email
