Wellington City Council’s team provides more than 400 services every day for Wellingtonians – everything from parks and pools to consents and cemeteries – playing our part in making Pōneke an inclusive, sustainable, and creative capital for people to live, work and play.Sitting within our wider Finance and Strategy team is our Payment Services function who processes invoices and payment requests, manage direct debit and automatic payments, and carries out other activities relating to accounts payable here at Te Kaunihera o Pōneke.And to support this team, we are now looking for a new Team Leader Payment Services to lead the transactional processing of the accounts payable function.We are looking dynamic Team Leader with a passion for efficiency and customer service. This is a great opportunity to join our vibrant team and take charge of the transactional processing of accounts payable.Ngā tohu me ngā wheako | Qualifications and experienceAs the Team Leader, Payment Services, you will guide and support the Payment Services team to ensure accurate and efficient payment transactions. Foster a collaborative environment, contribute constructively to team meetings, and model positive management practices, along with.

  • Team Development: Cultivate a high-performance culture by enhancing team capabilities, driving professional development, and maintaining motivation aligned with team goals, service standards, and continuous improvement.
  • Service Delivery: Ensure efficient system usage and staff training. Oversee reconciliations, ensure supplier payments are made on time, and monitor compliance with internal controls and payment delegation protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Constantly review and improve systems and processes to enhance efficiency. Work closely with system providers and customers to ensure smooth operations with minimal manual intervention.
  • Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships across Wellington Council to promote seamless operations and team collaboration.

  • Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams.
  • A proactive, customer-focused mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounts payable processes, internal controls, and financial systems.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to drive system and process improvements.
