This role serves as a central assurance function, providing leadership and guidance to maintain and enhance the quality of technical and operational processes in OQEP-operated assets (onshore and offshore). By driving a culture of continuous improvement and fostering collaboration across departments, the team lead needs to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality outputs that align with organizational goals and uphold the company’s reputation in a highly competitive industry.The position will act in accordance with the OQEP Mission, Vision, Values, and strategies, as well as policies, guidelines, and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government and other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality management strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) complies with ISO 9001, API Q1/Q2, and other applicable standards.
  • Create, update, and enforce policies, procedures, and documentation supporting the QMS.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to quality in upstream oil and gas operations.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and certification bodies to maintain necessary certifications.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor quality assurance frameworks to ensure operational excellence.
  • Develop and implement Total Quality Management (TQM) and Risk-Based Quality Assurance (RBQA) frameworks.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and improve quality performance.
  • Identify quality-related risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of technical and operational processes to verify compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits related to quality management.
  • Oversee supplier and contractor quality performance, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct supplier audits and evaluations to maintain a high-quality standard across the supply chain.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including technical, engineering, operations, and HSE teams, to align quality protocols with operational practices.
  • Collaborate to integrate quality practices into exploration, drilling, production, and maintenance workflows.
  • Audit standards for equipment and services critical to oilfield operations.
  • Ensure consistency and compliance in exploration, drilling, production, and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain and administer quality-related digital platforms with IT support.
  • Lead the quality management team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
  • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement across departments.
  • Promote and lead initiatives to improve quality processes, reduce operational risks, and enhance product and service delivery.
  • Encourage innovation in quality management practices through training and technological adoption.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, partners, and industry bodies to enhance the company’s reputation for quality.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on quality issues, trends, and improvements to senior leadership.
  • Communicate quality objectives and achievements to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role within the Oil & Gas upstream industry, preferably with experience in the area/assets associated with this position, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the upstream oil and gas sector.
  • Experience and well-versed in field Audits, investigations, inspections, troubleshooting, performance checks, data compilation, etc.
  • Familiarity with upstream oil and gas operations, including exploration, production, and project development.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9000 families and other quality management frameworks.
  • Technical knowledge of materials/processes used in oil and gas or petroleum industries.
  • Knowledge of the best practices in Quality Management Systems
  • Preferred holding Professional certifications such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma (Black Belt), or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of digital-related solutions and MS Project / MS Office
  • Experience in benchmarking studies.
