Job description: This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 with possible extension and/or permanency.Exmouth District High School (DHS) is seeking a proactive and passionate Home Economics and Hospitality teacher who can effectively collaborate within a team. The ideal candidate should have high expectations, a strong commitment to excellence, and be skilled at applying high impact teaching strategies to create a positive and engaging classroom environment.Exmouth DHS is a proudly Independent Public School with approximately 520 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Located about 1250km north of Perth, 850km north of the large regional city of Geraldton and 550km southwest of the Pilbara mining operations in Karratha, we are surrounded by Cape Range National Park and are the gateway to the unique Ningaloo Reef, recently listed as a World Heritage site. There is a permanent population of approximately 3,500 people which swells to thousands more during peak tourist periods. Due to the number of tourists visiting Exmouth the town has many amenities which would not normally be expected in a town of its size.Find out more about our school by visiting orThe RoleThe position involves teaching Home Economics from Years 7 to 12 with the potential of delivering Certificate II in Hospitality. It would be desirable for applicants hold a Certificate II in Hospitality or willing to undertake training to deliver relevant certificate courses in hospitality. The position may also require teaching other subjects such as English or Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS).Specialisation in Home Economics and Textiles, along with strong professional knowledge and the ability to inspire students, is essential. The school strives for excellence in teaching and learning and values meaningful relationships with students and their families.Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are essential to promote the school’s values and priorities. Building positive relationships with students and a passion for shaping their futures are key focuses. The role requires a performance-driven, evidence-based approach to high quality teaching.The applicant should ideally demonstrate strong knowledge of effective teaching strategies, particularly in explicit instruction, and a desire to work with the high-impact teaching team. They should effectively use student and whole school performance data to inform planning and differentiation across all year levels.
