Under the supervision of a Tax Regulations Specialist 3 the Tax Regulations Specialist 2 will perform the following essential functions:
Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Promotional Minimum Qualifications:
You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have one year of permanent service as a Tax Regulations Specialist 1
NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-Seven years of accounting, auditing or tax examination experience. Substitutions: an associate’s degree including or supplemented by 6 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing and/or taxation may substitute for two years of experience. A bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 6 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, and/or taxation may substitute for four years of experience.
COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The selected candidate must be reachable on an eligible list for this title and location under Civil Service Law, Rules and Regulations.
OR
The selected candidate must be eligible for a 70.1 or 52.6 transfer under Civil Service Law, Rules and Regulations.Additional Comments New York State is an equal opportunity employer.
