With presence in every department, we analyse performance, and deliver actionable insights that shape our strategic decisions.About the roleThe Tax Team engages with all areas of the Coles business. This is an exciting opportunity to work with internal and external stakeholders across tax and the broader Coles business.You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the income tax function
  • Working in partnership with the indirect tax team
  • Coaching and developing two direct reports
  • Managing income tax returns and year end and half year accounts
  • Leading tax advice on business activities, projects, acquisitions and divestments
  • Managing engagement with revenue authorities
  • Engagement with numerous internal stakeholders
  • Engagement and management of external advisers and auditors
  • Leading execution of Coles group governance procedures
  • Leading advocacy on law changes
  • Leading change on automation and process improvements

About you and your skillsWe are looking for a Tax Manager with significant experience working in-house or a chartered accounting firm. You will be able to partner effectively with multiple stakeholders, lead a team and be a trusted advisor to the business.You will also have:

  • CA/CPA qualified/Masters of Tax
  • Strong tax effect accounting skills
  • Experience with tax compliance software
  • Strong income tax return skills
  • Strong income tax technical skills including reading the law, extrinsic materials, interpretation, analysis and critical thinking
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient system skills – Excel, Word and Powerpoint
