Risk is constantly evolving and growing – it is intrinsic in everything we do.You will be at the forefront and have responsibility to set the QRM strategy for the T&L business, monitor the compliance with risk policies and procedures, report to the T&L business, the firm and globally, on every aspect of risk, and sign off the risk aspect of every new process, platform, technical change which impact the T&L business. A further key aspect to the role will be the ongoing education of teams through formal learning sessions providing a diverse aspect to the role.Your immediate report will be to the Partner in charge of T&L’s QRM processes. You will also be supported by, and have people responsibility for, an executive tax risk assistant. In addition, there are dedicated risk representatives across the business and a key aspect of the role will be to liaise and disseminate pertinent information on a regular basis.Your key responsibilities will include:Working with the T&L partners, you will develop the QRM Strategy for the T&L business for the coming year, agreeing and setting priority focus areas, key metrics and organising ways of working and key actions aligned to the agreed strategy.You will be responsible for monitoring the day-to-day operation of the risk aspects of client and engagement take-on, performing regular compliance checks.Organising annual internal tax reviews whereby cases are chosen and assessed, using a dedicated tool developed by NSE for this purpose.You will be responsible, with the assistance of our legal resource, to review and update all our engagement contracts for T&L services as required.You will have a number of reporting responsibilities and you will sit on the risk management executive and represent T&L in relation to our key risk projects within the firm. Such reporting fora include monthly T&L partner meetings, regular NSE QRM/risk meetings, operational meetings as well as ad-hoc crisis management meetings.You will actively develop your network by working with other stakeholders within T&L, and other business units across the firm, in particular our central risk team (Quality Risk and Security – QRS)Organise and manage the education of the T&L business across both mandatory and ongoing training for continuous assessment needs and support the dissemination of QRS training.Other sign off responsibilities for publications both internal and external from T&L, and reviewing and sign off on the risk aspects of new service offerings in T&L.About YouSignificant professional experience gained working with exposure to some mix of: professional service delivery, service delivery quality management, technology quality management or a technology regulatory environment.Some familiarity with contracts and the structure and key features of different legal documents.An absolute commitment to the significance of quality and risk to the success of a large professional services firm.The ability to think logically and with a keen eye for detail when working across multiple complex scenarios.Strong analytical, communication and reporting skills with the ability to be concise without losing the importance of the matter.The ability to prioritise workloads and work accurately under pressure to meet deadlines, excellent time management skills.Adept with the use of typical office-based technology solutions (e.g., Microsoft O365).Performance of the role would also benefit significantly from some or all of the following:An awareness of Tax and Legal services delivered by large professional services firms, and the expanding role of technology in the market.An awareness of the legal and regulatory environment applicable to the delivery of T&L services as well as tech-enabled services e.g., GDPR; independence restrictions affecting non-audit services; DORA etc.Familiarity with suitable quality control environment for the development and delivery of managed services/tech-enabled services, and some familiarity with systems architecture commonly employed to host data and provide tech-enabled services.A professional qualification (equivalent to ACA or AITI) is likely, but it is not a requirement.Location: FlexibleWork pattern: This is a permanent contract opportunity.
