Job description: About the Client
Our client is sourcing Tax Consultant for a 3-Month Contract.About the Opportunity
Corporate & Indirect Tax Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation of Canadian income tax and information returns
• Coordinate with external advisors to manage the preparation of U.S. income tax returns
• Ensure compliance with indirect tax obligations across all operating jurisdictions
• Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions, including coordination with external auditors
• Review GST, provincial sales tax, and U.S. sales tax returns
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of all income tax and other tax-related returns
• Lead the resolution of tax audits, including responding to audit queries, reviewing proposed assessments, preparing objections/appeals, addressing disputes, and implementing corrective actions

Tax Planning & Additional Responsibilities:

• Conduct technical research and provide recommendations on complex tax issues and strategic planning, including corporate restructuring
• Perform due diligence for mergers and acquisitions
• Foster relationships across the organization to ensure alignment, collaboration, and engagement in tax matters
• Liaise with external tax advisors and supply documentation for U.S. federal tax returns
• Address tax-related inquiries from business units to support operational needs

About You

• Big 4-8 in Tax Division (directly from firm OR firm + industry)
• 5+ years in Canadian Corp/Direct tax/Indirect Tax (provisions, compliance, planning, etc.)
• Worked in a Publicly traded company (if from industry) OR has publicly traded clients (if from firm)
• Industry tax experience is an asset
• InDepth or MTax is an excellent asset
• Experience with Wolters Kluwer tax software is an asset
• CPA, CA is an asset
