Client: Canadian-BasedAbout the RoleWinnors Remote Staff is seeking an experienced highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to support our Canadian client, supporting the year-end tax reporting requirements for Canadian tax authorities. As a Tax Specialist, you will contribute to the seamless delivery of accurate tax reporting and compliance for our clients, who rely on us for exceptional service and expertise.This will role will cover both accounting and tax workKey Responsibilities
Review, research, and analyze year-end tax files and slips (e.g., T3, T5, T5008, T5013, RL series, NR4, T4RSP, T4RIF, 1042S, 1042, 1099s, and custom statements) for accuracy and completeness.
Familiarity with various CRA/MRQ/IRS tax slips and related tax regimes.
Perform data validation by cross-referencing tax reports with internal client account/activity information.
Conduct monthly reconciliation and review of Canadian tax withholding and remittance.
Work with senior tax staff to provide client tax planning services including research of tax issues.
Review of a wide range of personal tax returns and simple corporate tax returns
Preparation of personal, corporate, non-profit organization information and charitable tax returns
Collaborate with the Tax team to ensure accurate and timely distribution of tax slips and remittance to relevant authorities.
Escalate, document, and address discrepancies in client data files promptly.
Review financial accounts, prepare income tax documentation, and ensure compliance with the Canadian Tax Act.
Support the tax team with tax package mailouts, slip amendments, and addressing client tax inquiries.
Prepare financial documentation for ISO audits.
Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, reconcile accounts payable and receivable, and ensure timely payments.
Handle ad-hoc tasks and projects within the Tax department as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in tax functions and/or client tax reporting.
ACCA, CA, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred) or equivalent education and experience.
Prior experience of working with Canadian Tax consultants/ Canadian Accounting firms.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote setup.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members and clients.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
