Job description: Job Description:SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:The Tax Accountant plays a key role in the efficient processing of day-to-day tax-related tasks, including reviewing vendor and customer invoices for tax compliance and support in maintaining accurate records for FTA compliance. This position supports tax return filings, monthly and year-end reconciliation processes, and ensures compliance with tax regulations. The Junior Tax Accountant will also assist in identifying areas for improvement and provide guidance on basic taxation procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review and record vendor tax invoices, student invoices, ensuring adherence to tax regulations, university policies and procedures.
Process accurate recording of all tax-related transactions, updating systems as needed to maintain full compliance to tax regulations.
Prepare calculations, documentation, and filing of tax returns.
Maintain well-organized and accurate records of all tax-related transactions and coordinate with AP & Tax accountant, to provide necessary documentation and reports to tax auditors, and consultants.
Coordinate with tax consultants and external auditors in order to provide information related to AP, Taxation, inventory, and fixed assets related matters.
Monitor daily bank transactions and investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and accounting records on time.
Prepare the monthly bank reconciliation process to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Generate reports on reconciliation activities, cash flows, and suggest areas for improvement.
Participate in quarterly and year-end closing activities, including reconciling tax, bank, asset,s and clearing account related balances.
Assist in implementing controls and procedures to enhance the efficiency of tax and reconciliation processes.
Contribute to process improvements, and assist in the policy development, and digitalization initiatives.
Provide support and training to office and college staff on taxation policies, procedures, and other compliance requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting\ Finance, or related field, with at least 2 years of experience directly related to the Taxation and reconciliation duties and responsibilities specified.
A UAE VAT Diploma is highly preferable.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Knowledge of FTA regulations, policies and procedures.
Knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
Familiarity with financial policies and procedures in a university or similar environment.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Account balancing and reconciling skills & ability to set up and maintain financial accounts and ledgers.
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
Knowledge of Finance, accounting, budgeting, auditing, and cost control procedures.
Knowledge of computerized information systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX/365, online banking portal,s and shared drives for documentation.
Working knowledge of MS Excel spreadsheet software to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
