Reporting to the Manager, Substation Operations, you will be responsible for supporting the Manager and the Director, Regional Operations in implementing the business unit goals, objectives, and strategies by providing leadership, direction, and supervision to the Western Substation Operations team. Key elements of this role include::As Supervisor, Substation Operations you will:
You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives in your area.You must be available for rotational supervisory standby and demonstrate your ongoing commitment to the Capabilities Development Process. These skills will make you successful::What skills will make you successful?You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:The successful candidate will have a certificate in the Electrical trade and/or a Diploma in Engineering Technology and/or Diploma as an Electrical Technician. Ten years of experience leading a team is required. You must have a demonstrated and proven track record for promoting and enforcing safety and environmental awareness. Good working knowledge of electrical theory, including instrumentation and operating characteristics of protection and control and power equipment is required. You must be self-motivated, adaptable to change, and have demonstrated ability in work management optimization. Extensive leadership experience with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills is required.You must have a valid driver’s license, locate your primary residence within 30 minutes of the Metro, and be available for after-hours emergency service restoration.At Nova Scotia Power, everyone is a leader in their own right.
