Job description: Job titleSenior Specialist TaxGradeStreamOQEPFunctionFinance – Financial ControlLocationOman, MuscatBudget control*OPEX and/or CAPEX and/or Revenue amount as relevant*Reporting toManager Financial Accounting & TaxDirect Reports0Job purposeUndertaking and assisting the various Tax Compliance & Reporting activities, under the scope of Manager Financial Accounting & Tax, through: (1) Preparing/reviewing the full range of global tax compliance activities encompassing both direct and indirect taxes in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations in a timely and efficient manner in the light of the organization’s Tax Policy, (2) Executing the Tax related services (returns, filing of all tax forms, tax accounting activities, periodical tax provisioning, and fully reconciled tax accounts), (3) Ensuring that the compliance and reporting of the entire tax operations is executed in a manner that minimizes risks and maximizes value to the business, (4) Operating the tax governance framework including policies, processes, risks, and controls, audits, documentation, (5) Providing support to various tax-related projects, (6) Communicating and collaborating with team members and other business units concerning any common objectives or activities, especially in ensuring seamless tax operations, and (7) Finding and proposing opportunities for process or operational improvement in the relevant tax procedures.The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.Main tasks and responsibilities

Accountabilities:Tax Services

  • Preparation and review of the tax returns and the accurate and timely filing of all tax forms.
  • Preparation and review of the tax accounting activities including financial analysis, periodical tax provisioning, and ensuring fully reconciled and clean tax accounts.

Tax Compliance

  • Satisfying the compliance and reporting requirements of the entire tax operations in a manner that minimizes risks and maximizes value to the business.
  • Preparation and updating of an overall compliance calendar and coordinating timing and inputs with the tax team.
  • Ensure tax compliance and optimization of the relevant business third-party contracts with respect to tax clauses and any potential tax risks or costs.
  • Operate the tax governance framework including policies, processes, risks, and controls.

Control & Risk Management

  • Preparation and updating of effective risk and control procedures over all aspects of the tax processes.
  • Endeavor to maintain a favorable effective tax rate and identify risks or opportunities that may impact the effective tax rate.

Tax Audits

  • Address tax audits and tax assessments including preparing responses, creating schedules, drafting formal correspondence, etc. in the most favorable manner.
  • Being able to visit and discuss with relevant tax authorities as and when required and according to internal instructions.

Tax Reporting

  • Preparation and updating of periodic management reporting covering tax results, tax position, insights, analysis, risks, and key developments.
  • Drafting of internal memos and notes to the management for advice or decision making.

  • Senior Specialist: 6+ years relevant experience and or capabilities in a similar role will be preferred.

Both:

  • Professional experience in direct and indirect taxes from legislative and compliance perspectives.
  • Oil and Gas / Energy industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in maintaining strong relationships with direct & indirect tax agencies and external advisers in the region.
  • Experience in executing direct and indirect taxes (CIT, WHT, VAT, GST, and sales tax, etc.).
