Department Description:GSK’s Packaging, Device and Design Solutions team is charged with the delivery of robust, patient-centric devices and primary packaging solutions to enable the effective delivery of novel pharmaceuticals across all modalities and routes of administration. Our group is a multi-skilled team of Engineers and Scientists who work across all stages of the product and process development lifecycle, from the discovery interface through concept design, selection and, ultimately, the registrational submission and commercial supply. Job Description:We are looking for an enthusiastic development engineer/scientist/student co-op to support early device workstreams for our increasingly complex drug-device combination (DDC) products. You will join a dynamic and growing team that is key to delivering an expanding portfolio.In this role you will:

  • Characterize performance of various drug product dosage forms (i.e. solutions, suspensions, lyo) with respect to compatibility, functionality, performance, and stability as it relates to DDC development
  • Characterize prefilled syringe, cartridge, vial shaking profiles utilizing robotics and digital surrogate devices
  • Evaluate adsorption and material surface interactions with various drug product formulations
  • Ensure the selected devices meet the user requirements through lab testing activities, and simulation work packages
  • Use problem-solving skills and different strategies to support risk mitigation activities and/or root cause analysis for interrogation of test results

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 6-month assignment (March ~ September 2025).
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience/interest in development of drug-device combination (DDC) products or medical devices
  • Familiarity with robotics, primary containers and packaging components (i.e. syringes, cartridges, elastomers, glass)
  • Experience working in a lab and following SOPs
  • Experience with robotics, QCM-D, Instron/Zwick, Minitab Software, JMP Software, Design of Experiments, Statistica
  • Creative and motivated self-starter, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in team and matrix environments

Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend.
