With approximately 200 customers in ten countries, including one of the ten largest transit systems in the U.S., they are a revenue-generating, fast-growing technology company dedicated to customer value creation and scalability.Following the successful first close of a US$15 million funding round, they continue to expand and innovate within the EV charging space.Job DescriptionThe purpose of this role is to amplify our engineering team’s effectiveness by owning the infrastructure, tooling, and systems that support their work. This includes hands-on development and maintenance of internal tools, infrastructure, and automation, alongside responsibility for security and compliance needs. By reducing friction, embedding DevSecOps practices, and enabling fast, safe delivery, this role allows engineers to stay focused on building our core product. The person in this role will also mentor others and champion best practices that lift technical excellence across the team.Responsibilities and TasksDesign, develop, and maintain internal tooling and automated solutions to improve developer efficiency, system observability, and reliability.Lead infrastructure initiatives, including hands-on management and automation of AWS environments (including via Terraform), and GitLab administration, ensuring robust, secure, and efficient systems.Own technical aspects of security and compliance initiatives, specifically SOC2 compliance tooling, security scanning automation, penetration testing integration, and proactive vulnerability management.Coach engineering teams in DevSecOps practices, including robust CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, tracing, and metrics collection to ensure high availability and operational visibility.Drive adoption of best practices and standards for software development tooling, such as integrated development environments, debugging, local environment setup, dependency management, and build optimizations.Serve as an escalation point for infrastructure and tooling support, providing deep engineering expertise to diagnose and resolve complex problems, working closely with engineering and customer success teams.Guide and mentor engineering team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical growth, and operational excellence.QualificationsCore Engineering & Development Skills (Critical)Demonstrable experience as a software engineer building internal tooling and automation.Strong programming and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js, Bash).Proficient with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.DevSecOps & Infrastructure Automation (Critical)Deep understanding of DevSecOps principles and hands-on experience automating security and compliance processes.Expert-level experience in AWS services and container orchestration (ECS, Docker).Strong familiarity with GitLab CI/CD, GitOps practices, and automated deployment strategies.Problem-Solving & Debugging (Critical)Expert ability to diagnose complex infrastructure and application issues through systematic problem-solving approaches.Comfortable debugging and tracing through existing codebases and distributed systems.Software Development Practices (Core)Strong understanding of agile methodologies and software delivery practices.Proven experience integrating tooling and infrastructure workflows seamlessly into development cycles.Agile & Collaborative Work (Core)Able to closely align internal tooling strategy with broader product and engineering vision.Collaborative style, enabling cross-team alignment and joint problem-solving.Leadership & Mentorship (Core)Experienced technical mentor, capable of elevating engineering team capabilities in internal tooling and infrastructure practices.Aptitude for strategic thinking, capable of influencing team priorities and technological direction.User & Commercial Awareness (Beneficial)Able to articulate technical tooling and infrastructure strategies clearly, connecting them with business and user impact.Effective communicator, bridging gaps between technical and non-technical stakeholders.Personal Behavioural CompetenciesInitiative & Drive: The ability to self-start, make decisions, and see tasks through to completion, even in the face of obstacles.
