Job description: DESCRIPTIONAmazon is looking to a hire a Senior VAT Manager focused specifically on e-invoicing, e-reporting and related order-to-cash and procure-to-pay transactional capabilities, controls, and reporting. The role will report to our global E-Invoicing Compliance Planning Director, as part of a wider team of program, product, and tax planning managers responsible for ensuring Amazon is VAT compliant with rapidly proliferating e-invoicing and e-reporting legislation around the world.The ideal candidate will have global VAT technical knowledge with an emphasis on EMEA, as well as experience advising on an e-invoicing implementation and/or related the tax aspects of order-to-cash or procure-to-pay projects. The candidate must be able to work closely with members across a global tax department as well as external stakeholder teams (e.g., Accounting, Legal, Finance, Business, and Technical) and communicate business plans, obtain tax subject matter input, and ensure coordination and execution of cross-functional tax solutions in a sustainable manner. The candidate must be able to communicate, both in writing and orally, complex tax concepts in ways that are understandable and useful to non-tax professionals.Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our e-Invoicing Compliance Planning Team and the team’s external stakeholders have a complete understanding of the e-Invoicing legislative horizon and published legislation, including:– Working with our VAT Policy Team to monitor, track, evaluate, and communicate country specific e-invoicing legislative developments, as well as broader VAT legislation that can impact e-invoicing related obligations.
– Drafting and reviewing tax requirements related to business launches and ensuring those requirements are implemented correctly
– Developing test plans and sign off on test transactions related to new business and product launches
– Liaising with advisors and tax authorities on matters relating to e-Invoicing and the Amazon’s businesses
– Reporting on planning initiatives and launches to senior leaders
– Promoting e-Invoicing tax awareness and knowledge internally including liaising with key stakeholders on changes to systems, policies and processes
– Assisting with career development of other team membersBASIC QUALIFICATIONS– 10+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
– 7+ years of indirect tax (VAT) advisory experience
– Experience in taxation in a corporate environment, public accounting firm, major law firm, or tax authorityPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS– Broad based global VAT technical knowledge with added depth in EMEA and/or LATAM value-added taxes
– Experience advising on an e-invoicing implementations and/or related the tax aspects of order-to-cash (selling) or procure-to-pay (purchasing) projects.
– Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partner well with people at all levels within an organization, including coaching of junior staff
– Demonstrated ability to successfully lead complex, milestone driven projects, including the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
– Experience managing accounting/finance process improvement and/or technology projects with tight schedules
