Job description: Job Title: Winter Road Construction SupervisorJob DescriptionWe are seeking a Winter Road Construction Supervisor on a temporary contract. This role involves overseeing all site activities and managing field personnel to ensure the construction and maintenance of a winter road are completed on time and within budget. The supervisor will also enforce health and safety policies on-site. Projects may be in remote areas, requiring fly-in/fly-out or drive-in/drive-out arrangements. Typically, the work schedule will be on a rotational basis (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off), with accommodation, meals, and travel expenses covered. The position starts in January 2025 and is expected to conclude around April 2025, with potential for future projects.Responsibilities

  • Act as the site supervisor for projects where the company is the Prime Contractor.
  • Ensure the project scope is executed effectively.
  • Adhere to and enforce health and safety policies at all sites.
  • Coordinate and supervise on-site construction activities, including health and safety, within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Administer construction contracts, designs, and specifications on-site.
  • Maintain project schedules and track associated costs.
  • Resolve site issues to minimize construction delays.
  • Communicate regularly with the client’s project manager, project coordinator, contract administrator, and client representatives.
  • Plan daily project tasks to ensure adherence to the schedule.
  • Manage subcontracts and purchase orders through daily communication with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of work performed.
  • Identify potential cost savings and efficient field methodologies.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet drawings and specifications.
  • Attend on-site project meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the project manager, contracts manager, or regional leader.

Essential Skills

  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to manage resources and schedules effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with indigenous contractors.
  • Experience in winter road construction and maintenance.
  • Experience in site preparation for winter investigative drilling and sampling.
  • Experience in earthworks, site remediation, or civil work.
  • Strong focus on health and safety management.
  • Knowledge of Canadian construction safety laws and regulations.
  • Understanding of equipment resources and efficiency.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to work on remote project sites in the Northwest Territories and Alberta on a rotational basis.
