Job description: The Senior Manager of Strategic Planning is a senior leadership role within Dialog Group Berhad, responsible for guiding the company’s strategic direction and overseeing the corporate planning process across all business units. This role involves developing and executing comprehensive short-term and long-term strategic plans that drive growth, competitive positioning, and operational excellence. The incumbent ensures alignment between these plans and the overall corporate strategy, working closely with business divisions to draft annual business plans. A critical part of this role is integrating risk management into the strategic planning process, ensuring that all strategic initiatives are resilient to potential disruptions. Key Responsibilities: Strategic and Corporate Planning Leadership: Lead the formulation and execution of short-term and long-term strategic plans, ensuring these plans align with Dialog Group’s corporate vision and objectives. Oversee the development of the corporate business plan for the group, ensuring it is effectively communicated and integrated across all business units. Ensure divisional business plans align with the overall corporate strategy, long-term goals, and are realistic and executable. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Support M&A opportunities, ensuring strategic alignment and overseeing due diligence with support from the Corporate Services, and Finance team. Oversee the integration of acquired companies, ensuring a smooth transition and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives. Risk Management: Integrate risk management into the strategic and corporate planning processes, identifying and assessing strategic risks that could impact the company’s long-term objectives. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address potential risks, ensuring that all strategic initiatives are resilient to disruptions. Market and Competitive Analysis: Oversee comprehensive analysis of market trends, competitive dynamics, and industry developments. Utilize these insights to inform strategic and corporate planning decisions, positioning the company for sustained growth and success. Scenario Planning: Direct the scenario planning process to anticipate potential future developments and their impacts on the organization. Develop robust strategies to address a variety of possible outcomes, ensuring organizational agility. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the General Manager of Business Performance, the PMO, and other key stakeholders to ensure that strategic initiatives and corporate plans are aligned, well-coordinated, and that resources are allocated efficiently. KPI Development and Monitoring: Establish, monitor, and refine key performance indicators (KPIs) for strategic initiatives and corporate plans, ensuring that progress is tracked and that adjustments are made as needed to achieve desired outcomes. Strategic Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Head of Corporate Strategy and the executive leadership team on the progress of strategic initiatives, market trends, risk factors, corporate plan performance, and KPI achievement. Present strategic recommendations based on data-driven insights. Job Requirements: Experience: A minimum of 12 years of experience in strategic and corporate planning, with extensive experience in managing strategic risks and leading complex, high-impact initiatives across multiple business units. Significant experience in the upstream oil and gas industry is required. Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in strategic planning tools, financial analysis, corporate planning methodologies, scenario planning, and risk management practices. Expertise in economic, market analysis and competitive intelligence is essential. Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of energy, oil and gas, particularly upstream industry is preferred. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA, CFA or relevant postgraduate or industry qualification is highly desirable. KPI Focus: Demonstrated success in developing, monitoring, and achieving KPIs related to strategic initiatives and corporate plans. Proven ability to use KPIs to drive strategic success and organizational growth. Leadership: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to influence, collaborate, and drive strategic initiatives across diverse teams and business units. Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex strategic and corporate planning concepts to senior management and other key stakeholders.
