Job description: Overview:Assist with the Company’s Security and Exchange Commissions (“SEC”) reporting function, including technical accounting research related to new and proposed accounting standards Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and footnote disclosures for public company filings, including quarterly earnings releases and quarterly and annual public filings as required by the SEC (Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K).
- Assist with the earnings releases, Management Discussion and Analysis (“MD&A”) and 8-K filings.
- Serve as liaison to external auditors, as it relates to the preparation and filing of the Company’s SEC documents.
- Conduct secondary review of outsourced XBRL process results for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare financial statements for various benefit plans such as 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (“ESOP”) and maintain supporting documentation. In conjunction with Management, coordinate the external audit of the 11-K.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly reports for the allowance for credit losses and support routine model maintenance procedures.
- Assist with the research, evaluation and documentation of technical accounting implications of complex or non-standard transactions.
- Keep current on proposed accounting and SEC reporting matters to proactively update management and corporate accounting team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in public accounting and/or SEC reporting required.
- CPA certification strongly preferred.
- Experience in banking or financial services a plus.
- MS Office advanced knowledge specifically Excel (pivot tables, logic functions, lookups and complex formulas).
- SEC disclosure software tool experience (ActiveDisclosure, Workiva or similar) strongly preferred.
- Strong technical research skills and ability to provide practical solutions to implementing new accounting guidance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
