Job description: The Senior Proposal Development Specialist, internally known as a Senior Program Design Specialist, will partner with the Sales and site technical/operations teams in acquiring new business for FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies. The position’s primary focus will support FDB’s large-scale cell culture and drug product service offering. They will lead technical discussions with potential customers, projecting FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies experience and expertise in the relevant service offering. They will develop and author customer-tailored proposals, assist throughout the sales process, and contribute to continuous improvement in proposal strategies.The job holder will preferably be based within reasonable proximity to FDB’s Hillerod or UK site. Regular out-of-hours calls may be required, and travel to other FDB sites 3-4 times a year is necessary.MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The job holder will be responsible for providing support to the acquisition of new customers and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of proposal development processes.Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the technical aspects of customer meetings and teleconferences.
• Designing customer programs from Technology Transfer to cGMP manufacture, including targeted process development and ancillary services required by regulations or local policies.

• Reviewing customer RFPs.
• Performing assessments of customer molecules and processes to ensure compatibility with Fujifilm capabilities and site requirements.
• Preparing and delivering compelling proposals in response to RFPs.
• Defining program scope, siting/location, timelines, and required resources.
• Developing proposals by gathering and structuring information, including project background, technical specifications, deliverables, methodologies, and budget. Crafting clear and compelling proposal drafts, including executive summaries, key assumptions, scopes of work, pricing, and projected timelines.
• Ensuring proposal content, cost estimates, and scheduling are accurate, well-structured, and adhere to internal best practices and established templates.
• Building and maintaining a structured repository of RFI/RFP knowledge to streamline future proposal development.
• Developing and implementing proposal strategies, ensuring alignment with client evaluation criteria and industry best practices.
• Managing and mentoring junior team members, reviewing and approving proposals drafted by subordinates, and providing guidance to improve proposal quality.
• Supporting the overall sales process, including SoW (Scope of Work) development, customer meetings, and ad hoc requests.
• Leading and contributing to improvement efforts and initiatives within the Program Design team, including harmonization of work practices across sites.
• Collaborating closely with commercial, marketing, process development, and manufacturing teams to enhance Fujifilm’s technical offering and competitiveness.
• Attending webinars, conferences, and industry events to stay updated with current industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in CDMO services.
• Managing multiple proposals simultaneously, coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality proposals.
• Engaging in post-submission evaluations, gathering client feedback, and using insights to refine and enhance future proposals.
• Ensuring excellence in technical writing and editing to produce clear, concise, and compelling proposal documents that communicate Fujifilm’s strengths effectively.
• Participating in both virtual and in-person client discussions, serving as a technical representative to communicate FDB’s capabilities and align proposals with customer needs.
• Facilitating smooth collaboration between business development teams and subject matter experts to ensure efficient workflow in proposal development, including tracking key action points and escalation needs.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs, and ensuring proposal alignment with client expectations.
• Working with internal teams to refine pricing structures and update cost models periodically, ensuring competitive and accurate quotations for services.

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:

• A scientific degree or equivalent (e.g., BSc) and possibly also a higher degree (e.g., MSc, PhD) in a relevant biological science field.
• 5+ years of technical experience at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies or another CDMO, or a similar industry role, including direct customer engagement.
• Broad understanding of FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies or a relevant CDMO’s business model, including process development, scale-up, program management, and manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory environments, process development, and analytical technologies related to mammalian cell culture processes.
• Experience with cGMP manufacturing and associated requirements.
• Practical experience in and knowledge of cell culture Drug Substance and/or Drug Product manufacturing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with external customers professionally and persuasively.
• Ability to analyse complex technical problems and present clear, effective solutions.
• Proven ability to influence customers and colleagues at all levels.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proven scientific writing skills with the ability to develop, review, and evaluate technical documentation collaboratively with technical staff.
• Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and handle multiple proposals simultaneously.
• Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Applying strong technical writing and analytical skills to create, evaluate, and refine proposal content, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and customer expectations.
• Experience using proposal management software or tools is a plus.
• Prior experience within Fujifilm Diosynth is a plus but not required.
