The Australian Bureau of Statistics is seeking to recruit several Senior Project Management Officers (APS 5 & 6) and a Business Relationship Manager (APS 6) to work in our IT Work Program Management Section.About the Senior Project Management Officer rolesSenior Project Management Officers (APS 5 & APS 6) coordinate workforce management activities and actively contribute to projects and strategic plans to address workforce and related financial matters.As a Senior Project Management Officer, your responsibilities may include:
- Leading Initiatives: use project management methods and project management tools including agile methodologies to coordinate, monitor and evaluate various workforce management activities.
- Report Preparation and Coordination: develop high-quality presentations, contributing to and preparing business management reporting, workforce reporting, project/ portfolio documentation and proposal papers for an executive audience.
- Administrative Services: deliver support across several services, including preparing professional correspondence, managing knowledge basis systems, maintaining registers and databases, and organising actions.
- Budget & Resource Management: work with key stakeholders in TSD and the finance team to undertake policy and resource analysis, support budget requirements and planning for TSD sections, programs and projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Process Development: initiate, implement and refine work processes as needed to improve organisational efficiency.
Note: The APS 6 Senior Project Management Officer role has responsibility for more complex work and staff management.About the Business Relationship Manager roleThe Business Relationship Manager (APS 6) will play a key role in supporting the Chief Information Officer and the Technology & Security Division Executive in achieving operational excellence, strategic planning and day-to-day management.As a Business Relationship Manager, your responsibilities may include:
- Business Support Management: collaborate closely with the CIO and TSD Executive to ensure seamless support for the divisional priorities, maintaining high standards of efficiency and professionalism. Provide insights and advice based on the business program for this group.
- Document Preparation and Coordination: develop high-quality presentations, briefings, ministerial correspondence, meeting agendas and corporate documents tailored to specific requirements.
- Administrative Services: deliver administrative support, including preparing professional correspondence, managing knowledge basis systems, maintaining registers and databases, and organising actions.
- Meeting and Event Coordination: organise and coordinate stakeholder meetings, agenda and presentation preparation, with the timely distribution of meeting documentation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Secretariat Support: plan, manage and provide secretariat support for high-level meetings and events, ensuring smooth operations and accurate record-keeping.
- Process Development: initiate, implement and refine work processes as needed to improve organisational efficiency.
What we are looking for (selection criteria)You should be able to demonstrate, or have high potential to develop, the following skills, qualities and experience:
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and build working relationships to achieve outcomes and drive change in the organisation. Utilise and develop networks, with the ability to inform and influence.
- Self-motivation and resilience to respond in a positive and flexible manner to change. Possess a positive attitude, curiosity and willingness to engage and deliver.
- Be proactive and use a solution-orientated mindset to solve problems with the ability to navigate challenges and make timely decisions. Ability to multitask, manage priorities highly organised with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience in leading initiatives using project management methods. Qualifications and knowledge of project management software products and frameworks such as Prince2 would be highly regarded.
- Ability to utilise analytical capability to interpret information and make informed recommendations. Experience working with large data sets to develop higher level strategy or executive reports that tell the story would be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of the following would be advantageous; financial management information systems (i.e. OneGov), Microsoft package (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI).
