Job description: We are seeking experienced Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialists to support high-profile digital health and data governance projects in the public sector. This role focuses on ensuring privacy compliance, managing risk, and safeguarding Personal Health Information (PHI) across large-scale programs.As a PIA Specialist, you will lead the development and review of privacy strategies, assessments, and policies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical and regulatory guidance, and ensure that digital initiatives align with privacy legislation and standards.Advantages

Develop, lead, and review Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for business processes and system solutions.Provide expert guidance on privacy laws, particularly PHIPA (2004), and identify compliance gaps.Assess and document risks associated with the collection, use, disclosure, and retention of PHI.Design privacy controls, security mechanisms, and data flow documentation for legacy and new systems.Engage with business, IT, legal, and privacy stakeholders to support implementation and compliance.Advise on Freedom of Information (FOI), privacy legislation, and policy implications.Prepare reports, risk assessments, briefing materials, and recommendations for governance bodies.Contribute to policy development and offer insights on emerging trends in privacy and data protection.Support change management, training, and communication related to privacy processes and impacts.Qualifications
– 10+ years of hands-on experience in privacy and information management roles.– Strong knowledge of PIA tools, risk assessment methodologies, and privacy-enhancing technologies.– Extensive understanding of PHI privacy risks and mitigation in digital environments.– Experience analyzing legislation, conducting impact assessments, and advising on compliance.– Strong background in preparing privacy documentation including reports, options papers, and briefings.– Effective at engaging stakeholders across IT, legal, policy, and business functions.– Excellent communication and presentation skills.Preferred Qualifications– 5+ years of experience in healthcare or public-sector environments.– Familiarity with Ontario privacy laws, IPC guidelines, GO-ITS standards, and public-sector architecture.– Experience in health IT, electronic health records (EHR), and large-scale digital transformations.– Knowledge of project management and approval processes.Summary
