When nature thrives, we all thrive.He angitūtanga | About the roleThis is a newly created role within our newly established People and Culture Hub, designed to make it easier for DOC kaimahi to access People and Culture services and receive support.You will play a key role in offering insightful data analysis guidance and making recommendations to enhance our people services. As part of the People & Culture team, you will be involved in an exciting transformation journey, helping to shape new ways of working and promoting collaboration across teams.Some of the key responsibilities;

  • Collaborate with the Chief People Officer (CPO) and other stakeholders to provide data-driven insights to improve people service performance. Provide key workforce insights and ensure accurate, timely reporting for leadership and statutory requirements.
  • Support the preparation of responses to Official Information Act (OIA) requests, Parliamentary Questions (WPQs), and statutory reporting requests. Provide actionable insights to the CPO, Principal Advisor, and the wider People & Culture team to support strategic planning.
  • Identify and support initiatives to improve systems and processes, ensuring data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
  • Help to cultivate a mature data culture within DOC by promoting best practices, sharing knowledge, and supporting the standardisation of data management and reporting practices.

Ngāpūkenga me ngāwheako | Skills and experienceOur ideal candidate will have the ability to delve into data, identify key trends, and communicate the stories that the data reveals.To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Good data analysis skills capable of not only understanding and interpreting data but also crafting clear, impactful insights and explanations.
  • Strong data visualisation skills, experience with dashboards, infographics and telling stories with data.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to tailor information to different audiences.
  • Sound writing skills and ability to draft and produce content for presentations, papers and letter responses in collaboration with others
  • Sound understanding of public sector accountability, including responding to Official Information Act requests, Parliamentary questions, and Select Committee inquiries.
  • Knowledge of information governance and compliance practices, including the Privacy Act and Public Service Commission reporting standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across teams and gain trust easily.
  • Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and integrate information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues, address risks, and recommend improvements.

Desirable:

  • Experience or exposure to people data and systems and understanding of a people function (human resources and organisational development).
