  • They provide strategic support around grant acquisition, including prospecting, diversification and donor engagement, with institutional donors, the private sector, foundations, and development banks.
  • This position leads on project design, proposal writing, multi-stakeholder coordination, and relevant internal and external processes. This includes supporting on grants, commercial contracts and if needed, Innovative Finance related bids.
  • This position works closely with a diverse team of technical advisors, finance/ compliance managers, and programs managers to develop high quality proposals.
  • They also develop supplementary materials, such as briefing notes, idea papers, expressions of interest, concept notes, and presentations.
  • This role also entails liaising closely with other Plan International offices, project partners, and stakeholders to ensure relevant, quality submissions.
  • The Senior Business Development Manager supports project budgeting and leads donor contracting, per internal and donor requirements.
  • This position supports the maintenance of a comprehensive grants pipeline managed through a CRM database and related internal reporting.

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • • Demonstrable experience in grant acquisition with the ability to produce a variety of high-quality proposals and relevant materials.
  • Prior business development experience working with a variety of institutional donors, e.g., Global Affairs Canada, World Bank, UN agencies, and corporations.
  • Strong project design skills, through a participatory approach.
  • Exceptional coordination and organizational skills, with aptitude to manage multiple proposals and other deliverables simultaneously.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to research, analyze, synthesize and present information quickly and accurately in line with donor requirements. Also, exceptional attention to detail.
  • Broad-based understanding of multiple sectors and approaches to international development, such as education, health, child protection, economic development, climate change, and nexus programming.
  • Solid understanding of results-based management (RBM) and other frameworks related to monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL).
  • Experience supporting detailed donor budgets and contracts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams and matrix environments for common deliverables.
  • An adaptable work style; open to collaboration with diverse personalities; thrives in a fast-paced, evolving work environment and delivers under short deadlines.
  • Proficiency in French and/or Spanish highly desirable.
  • Prior experience with private sector engagement and commercial contracts desirable
