The Division is responsible for buildings and more than 22,000 hectares of land. With over 3,500 University Staff and over 20,000 students.The role/Te mahiWe are looking for a professional Building Compliance and Information Advisor to lead compliance efforts and manage critical building data across the University.This role is essential in ensuring our built environment meets regulatory standards while supporting strategic asset management and operational efficiency. You will coordinate with internal teams and other subject matter experts to deliver cost-effective, compliant solutions and work closely with senior leaders to align compliance strategies with business needs.Other key elements to this role are:

  • Managing building information systems, digital models, engineering documentation and records.
  • Supporting capital works projects, ensuring the accuracy of property and service records.
  • Responding to complex compliance requests and mitigate financial or reputational risk.
  • Advising on policy updates and the impact of legislative changes.
  • Leading the compliance team, manage budgets, and track performance targets.

This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and a collaborative approach to ensuring safe, compliant, and well-managed infrastructure.Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheakoYou will be an expert in Building Compliance, Fire Engineering, or Asset Management. You will be tertiary qualified with proven experience in navigating complex building compliance and maintenance challenges.You excel at cultivating strong relationships with diverse stakeholders and influencing strategic decision-making.   • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including Building Act and fire safety regulations.
  • IQP registration (or eligibility) for Fire/Mechanical systems.
  • Expertise in building systems, regulatory codes, and compliance software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Experience developing building systems and compliance strategies.
  • Understanding of financial management, sustainability, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Dedication to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner and demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.
  • Experience in large or complex organisations, especially in education or the public sector would be advantageous.
