The team administers legislation impacting local government and the community and receives and processes statutory applications. It continues to engage local governments through education and capacity building for the sector.About the roleThis is your opportunity to work with our legislation and policy team to implement, advise and support the local government sector and the Western Australian community. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Local Government division as Senior Legislation Officer.We have one permanent, full time (75hrs p/f) position available.In this position you will be responsible:

• Assessing and providing recommendations on a variety of decisions which have been delegated to DLGSC by the Minister for Local Government.
• Prepare correspondence, briefing notes, submissions to the Minister, in relation to certain decisions which the Minister makes directly.
• Evaluates, assesses and makes recommendations on statutory approval applications and local laws.
• Liaise efficiently with community, external agencies, and internal groups in relation to wide range of the functions of the Department legislation and law-making matters.
