Job description: The Senior Learning Designer is responsible for the design of engaging and effective educational experiences across a range of learning modalities, with a particular focus on Canvas. This position involves collaborating across the Education Division with both internal and external subject matter experts to establish and implement best practices in the delivery of educational products and experiences for our CFA Institute audience, including an online learning platform and online courses. The Senior Learning Designer will work closely with other learning designers and learning technologists to ensure a learner experience that is consistent, coherent, and at the forefront of best practice. Their expertise in educational psychology and learning science principles will ensure that our educational products meet the needs of diverse learners and achieve optimal learning outcomes.This role is based in London and is eligible for remote work in approved jurisdictions. It reports to the Senior Director, Learning Design and Operations.What You’ll DoManage the work of other learning designers to ensure the quality of learning design across a portfolio of educational products (30%)Design and develop engaging, interactive, and pedagogically sound courses in Canvas and other formats, applying evidence-based learning design and educational psychology principles such as cognitive load theory, spaced repetition, and active learning strategies. (20%)Collaborate with subject matter experts, learning designers, multimedia developers, and external consultants, including technology platform vendors, to develop dynamic educational content for diverse learners. (10%)Lead the application of adult-centered learning design theories and evidence-based strategies in the development of educational content, guiding subject matter experts and content development processes. (10%)Design prototypes for interactive learning experiences using technologies like HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, with a focus on accessibility and responsive design. (10%)Develop and implement learning science-based assessment frameworks that align learning objectives, activities, and evaluation methods across educational products. (10%)Analyze learner feedback and learning analytics to inform iterative improvements to course design and delivery. (10%)What You’ll BringDemonstrated success in leading online learning design projects strongly preferred, especially in MOOCs, high-stakes adult learning programs, or executive education.Master’s Degree or other qualification in instructional design, learning science, or a related academic discipline.Proficient in use of authoring tools and LMSs, particularly Canvas, to create and deliver coursesKnowledge of learning science theories and learning design principlesEnthusiasm for pedagogy, particularly in the context of adult-centered, distance learning programsThorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich digital learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learningExperience using data to inform learning design approach for different learning products.About CFA InstituteCFA Institute are the global leader in investment excellence and ethics.
