Job description: Job DescriptionSenior Litigation Solicitor joining the legal team of a leading insurer. The role involves acting as a solicitor on behalf of the company or the company’s policyholders in litigated claims. Additionally, providing the Company with comprehensive and strategic legal advice toeffectively navigate legal matters and ensure the best possible outcomes.Responsibilities:
- Deliver independent advice to and take instructions from the Company in the management of Motor/ EL/PL litigated files in all forums to include arbitration, mediation, and tribunals with an emphasis on claims of significant monetary value.
- Responsible to run, without supervision, Circuit, High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court actions, including briefing Senior and Junior Counsel, as well as expert witnesses.
- To be able to settle claims based on agreed targets & efficiently manage a caseload of files and to give strategic advice.
- Keep up to date on all relevant new developments in legislation and case law and so advise the Operations Manager and the Company, contribute to newsletters and seminars on matters affecting claims.
- Provide advice & support to all of the company’s policyholders, concerning claims against their policies, providing a best in class” customer service
- Devising and providing training to the company’s Claims department on matters relevant to the processing of company claims as required as well as providing legal advice to the general Claims department on Claims related legal queries as they arise.
- Mentor claims handlers and other staff in assisting them to upskill on litigation.
- To provide independent legal advice to the Company on legal matters as required.
Requirements:
- A qualified litigation solicitor, with relevant EL, PL and Motor claims insurance defence experience.
- A career of over 7 years PQE with relevant insurance defence experience and entered on to the role of Solicitors in ROI.
- In depth knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, practice notes and Rules of Court, District, Circuit, High Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
- Proven experience and competent negotiator and strategic litigator
- Experience in working as part of a team & willingness to innovate and bring forward new ideas.
- Proven ability to interact with Senior Executives within the Company.
