Together let’s redefine retirement living for senior Australians.The OpportunityReporting directly to the General Manager People Services, this position is a collaborative role that provides trusted advice, coaching and support in the management and resolution of people performance and employee relations issues, and in ensuring compliance with relevant industrial relations laws, regulations, Modern Award provisions and internal policy. In this role, you will act as a trusted business partner and an advisor to managers and staff with respect to workforce management, coaching and development of leadership and job-specific skills. You will be advising and coaching managers and employees in the application of company policies and legislative requirements. You will also maintain an appropriate employee and industrial relations compliance framework to mitigate risks for Aveo and its employees.What we offer

You will
- Be the first escalation point of contact for high-risk employee relations matters across all states.
- Provide guidance, advice and direction to managers and employees with respect to all employee, industrial or human resources matters including providing appropriate and applicable coaching on conflict resolution, performance counselling and disciplinary actions in accordance with Aveo’s Code of Conduct, Human Rights, Fair Work Act and industrial relations frameworks.
- Oversee dispute resolution processes and fair resolution of workplace conflicts and grievances as well as conciliatory hearings involving Fair Work or Unions.
- Develop strategies for effective communication and negotiation with Unions and employee representatives.
- Stay current on employment and labour practices involving remuneration, benefits, WHS and National Employment Standards (NES) and provides responses on items via the HR inbox specifically related.
- Work with managers to identify areas for improvement or enhancement, referring workers’ needs to the Talent, Development and Engagement team.
- Act as a single point of contact for management within a respective region on all matters involving grievances, disputes, misconduct, performance management polices and procedures and policy initiatives.
- Act as a source of knowledge, counsel and team-confidante on complex HR/ER/IR matters.
- Lead workplace investigations, including confidential whistleblower investigations where directed by the Chief People and Risk Officer (CPRO) and make recommendations to Senior Executives in regards to outcomes
- Provide accurate and timely advice on a broad range of enquiries including the interpretation and practical application of employment legislation, industrial instruments and Aveo policy frameworks.
- Attend to Fair Work Commission hearings, court and other proceedings as required.
- Work with senior HR management, monitor legislative, Award and other IR changes and contribute to the implementation of any changes.
- Assist with any award compliance activities, including ensuring that the organisation properly meets its legal obligations
- Develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote positive employee relations across the organisation
- Build management capability to facilitate an open, inclusive, values-based environment that enables effective employee advocacy and a great organisational climate.
- Assist the GM People Services as and when required, to undertake/ensure:Quarterly review of the organisation’s casual workforce, involving dormant employees and actioning any subsequent terminations;
- Oversee the introduction and comparative analysis of new Modern Awards, as and when required;
- Undertake other work / projects as required or directed in the implementation of the HR strategic plan or other internal audit plan.
- Champion and drive HR/ ER Improvement Projects.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Relations, Human resources or relevant field (or equivalent experience)
- At least 7 years in a senior generalist human resources position, with at least 5 years of specialist employee/industrial relations experience managing complex cases in a multi-site environment.
- Postgraduate tertiary qualifications (desirable)
- Knowledge of best practice human resources.
- Comprehensive and mature understanding of the theoretical and practical application of the Fair Work Act and other Statutes.
- Extensive experience in the management and resolution of ER/IR matters.
- Knowledge of contemporary human resources reform, including overlap with work health and safety and payroll services.
- Understanding of Retirement Villages Act (all states), the Aged Care Act and Modern Awards (Aged care, Nurses, Real Estate & Clerks).
- Understanding of the Fair Work Act and the award and agreement framework.
- Experience interpreting and applying Modern Awards.
- Experience in administering and managing business and HR systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
