Location: Pickering, ON (Hybrid – 2 days remote)Position OverviewOntario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a Senior Human Factors Engineer (HFE) to support the execution and oversight of the Pickering Nuclear Refurbishment (PNR) Integrated Human Factors Engineering Program Plan (HFEPP). The successful candidate will provide expert-level HFE guidance across the full lifecycle of more than 120 engineering change projects, including design, installation, commissioning, and project close-out.This position involves extensive collaboration with EPC vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with OPG standards, industry guidelines, and regulatory requirements for human-machine interface (HMI) and human factors engineering.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide HFE leadership and oversight across all engineering change phases: scoping, design, installation, commissioning, and AFS (Available for Service).Actively manage EPC vendor deliverables, ensuring alignment with applicable OPG and industry standards for HFE.Review, accept, and contribute to the development of HFE deliverables, including:HFEPPs, HFE Reports, and NF-10221 (Parts A, B, C)HMI conceptual design reports, change papers, technical specifications, and commissioning documentationConduct or review HFE analysis, including:Task, workload, link, and communication analysisHMI design reviews, usability testing, and V&VProvide SME recommendations to Design Team Leads on modification packages and HFE impacts.Support installation and commissioning phases by reviewing SAFS (Systems Available for Service), AFS, and restart hold points.Track and resolve HFE-related issues throughout the project lifecycle.Ensure integration of HFE documentation into training and procedural materials.Collaborate with regulatory bodies by providing project updates, participating in inspections, and contributing to formal correspondence.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Human Factors, Systems, or related discipline); equivalent combination of education and experience considered.Must be qualified under OPG’s Nuclear Design Engineering Qualification Program as a:Design Engineer of Human-Machine Interfaces (QID 33685)With duty area qualification (QID 7768)Completed OPG-specific HFE self-study program and I&C computer-based training.Demonstrated experience in CANDU-specific HFE design and integration projects.Strong knowledge of physics, chemistry, engineering economics, and systems theory relevant to nuclear facility operations.Proven expertise in preparing and reviewing HFE documentation within regulated environments.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information.**We thank all applicants for applying, however only those considered for an interview will be contacted directly**Spirit Omega is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
