It is a Crown entity governed by a Minister-appointed Board and advised on Māori interests and knowledge by Te Puna, a statutory Māori Advisory Group. Our responsibilities are to protect and promote drinking water safety and related public health outcomes – we regulate drinking water suppliers on behalf of the public. We also have an oversight role in relation to the environmental performance of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater networks.If you’re a passionate and driven individual who shares our vision for making water safe everyday for everyone, then join us and be part of making a difference.Job DescriptionMō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this roleThis is a 10 month fixed term position to cover a period of parental leave. You will be supported by our CFO, Finance Business Partners and Finance Officer to collectively deliver the organisations financial functions. In this role you will:

• Lead a number of financial processes such as regular period end reporting (month-end, quarter-end and year-end)
• Play a key role in delivery of the financial statements and associated notes for key accountability documents, such as the Annual Report and Statement of Intent
• Process payment run including reviewing invoices to be sent to budget holders
• Contribute to the agency’s financial response to Select Committee questions, OIAs and PQs
• Manage the fixed asset register, including capitalisation of fixed assets in the FMIS and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and policies
• Manage the Audit process, prepare and provide information for, and engage with the appointed auditors, for audit engagements
• Manage and support 1 direct report – our Finance Officer
• Support our Financial Business Partners to deliver high quality management accounting services

• Is an experienced (3+ years) qualified accountant (CA/CPA preferred) with sustained professional development.
• Can demonstrate an understanding of the public sector environment in which Taumata Arowai operates within.
• Has the ability to adopt a strategic and long-term approach to their work.
