Job description: The Senior Auditor is the primary point of contact and responsible for the control of multiple audit engagements. They supervise, and assist assigned engagement teams on all aspects of an audit engagement for review by the Engagement Manager. They may also assist the Managers / Partners (and/or others) in the performance of special assignments and reports when required. The Senior Auditor must ensure work is completed in line with the company’s Audit Methodology together with relevant industry legislation and regulations. Proactively communicate with clients, developing a detailed understanding of their business to determine how the company can best meet their needs. Establish and maintain positive relationships with existing clients and contacts Plan out audit engagements by identifying risks to determine the audit strategy, agreeing the timetable, scheduling employees and negotiating fees. Ensure satisfactory clearance of all Manager and Partner review points in a timely manner. Ensure jobs are completed effectively by meeting deadlines, keeping within budget and informing the Engagement Manager and Partners of any variances to budget. Ensure all audit files are completed in line with the company’s Audit Methodology. Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge to ensure compliance with all statutory and relevant regulatory requirements. Look for opportunities to add value to existing client’s scope of work within the firm. Participate in industry and business activities external to the firm raising the company’s profile and attracting clients to the business . Provide coaching and support to develop capability among team members. Delegate work to team members and sets clear goals for completion. Review work of team members to ensure correct auditing accounting standards are applied. Qualification and requirements: Competent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Competent use of YGM Demonstrated background in adhering to established processes and procedures. Demonstrated background in working with others to achieve common outcomes and/or goals . Business Skills Experience in liaising and presenting to Senior Management Communication Skills Excellent communication skills with all levels within an organisation Ability to express ideas and information clearly Excellent written communication skills High level of presentation and facilitation skills Be able to maintain confidentiality at all times Relationship Skills Appreciation of diverse communication and the ability to adapt Ability to work effectively with people who have different learning styles and skills Be able to work in a team environment Personal Organisation & Flexibility Stay focused and use time effectively to achieve goals by ensuring client (staff) service and outcomes are the primary focus of actions Generate innovative solutions by finding ways to do things better for the organisation Display attention to detail and be driven to achieve personal and team goals Innovation Ability to display original thinking and creativity Ability to meet challenges with resourcefulness Ability to develop innovative approaches and ideas Additional notes: Experience in planning an engagement, particularly risk assessment. Experience working directly with clients, e.g. calling/emailing clients to discuss audit queries, attending and participating in client meetings At least 2 years of experience as an external audit Senior and 4 years of external audit experience total. Risk and/or internal audit should NOT be included. Proficient English writing & verbal skills US experience is highly desirable – While US experience is preferred, it is not strictly required. We’re open to strong candidates who may not have direct US experience but meet the core criteria. Working US hours for 3-4 months – Candidates will be expected to work US hours for a 3-4 month period. The specific time zone(s) may vary, but we can consider this a ‘night shift’ role for the duration. After this period, their hours will revert back to AU/local hours for the rest of the year. Senior Auditors – We’re looking for Senior Auditors who meet the usual core criteria, such as relevant years of experience and an appropriate audit background. Please proceed using the position description and assessment previously used for the Senior External Auditor role. Start date – The ideal start date for these roles is mid to late June. US industry preference – While the ideal experience would include general US commercial audit experience, we’re particularly interested in Automotive Dealership audits given the volume of these in the US.
