Job description: Job Description:The Electric Machine Design Engineer will be tasked with the design of our automotive traction machines. Your responsibility will include ownership of the electromagnetic design and optimization of the eMachine topology, and the development and qualification from concept to serial introduction.You will work closely with our simulation experts, product line integration engineers, our Inverter Design & Systems experts and our advanced manufacturing experts to drive new product development.

• Interact with the system engineer to develop and own the traction motor specifications
• Optimize the design of the machine to meet performance, packaging, robustness and cost targets
• Interact with advanced manufacturing experts and/or suppliers
• Consult with vendors and suppliers
• Suggest enhancements to advance projects and improve workflows
• Design responsibility of the eMachine until launch of serial production

REQUIRED BACKGROUND

• PhD in electrical engineering or Bachelor/Master’s with relevant experience
• 2 years+ experience in electric machine design, preferably on high speed automotive or aerospace applications
• Strong understanding of Electromagnetic simulation and fluency with the tools
• Strong understanding of thermal OR structural simulation of electric machines
• Work experience developing automotive traction machines highly desired
• Knowledge of high voltage insulation systems for electrical machines
• Knowledge of manufacturing process of electric machines
