Job description: About the RoleThe Senior Director of the Program Management Office (PMO) leads a team responsible for enabling and supporting the delivery of strategic programs at CFA Institute. This senior leadership role works closely with the Leadership Team, program sponsors, and key stakeholders to plan and execute strategic investments. The Senior Director is accountable for the planning, reporting, delivery, and governance of all strategic initiatives across the organization. The role also oversees the organization’s project management activities, including defining governance structures, managing prioritization, and assessing business value. This position ensures the successful execution of complex projects by improving project portfolio management maturity and effectiveness across the company.Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Execution: Lead and execute complex projects, including those with significant technology components and organizational change management programs. Ensure alignment with business objectives and strategies.
  • Governance & Strategy: Establish governance structures, processes, and a prioritization framework for project management. Develop a roadmap to advance PMO maturity and strategic execution.
  • Change Management: Design and implement change management strategies to support the adoption of projects and drive sustained transformation.
  • Project & Program Oversight: Oversee all aspects of project and program management, including scope, budget, timeline, and risk management.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Act as a liaison between technology teams, business units, and senior leadership, ensuring effective communication and alignment.
  • Risk Management: Champion risk management practices, identifying potential risks in collaboration with the Enterprise Risk Management team and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Develop and maintain communication plans, training materials, and stakeholder engagement strategies to support change management efforts.
  • Process Improvement: Drive process improvements and the adoption of best practices in project management, technology delivery, and change initiatives.
  • High-Impact Projects: Personally lead high-impact projects critical to strategy execution and organizational goals.

Required Experience

  • Experience: A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in project and program management, with a strong focus on technology projects and change management initiatives. Preferred industry experience in Edtech, Technology, and/or Information Services.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree or certifications such as PMP/PMI or APM (Association of Project Management) is highly desirable.
  • Technology Expertise: Proven track record in successfully delivering complex, large-scale technology projects and organizational change programs. Demonstrated experience in raising the project management maturity of organizations.
  • Change Management: Expertise in leading change management efforts, including assessing organizational readiness, developing strategies, managing resistance to change, and measuring success.
  • Project Management Methodologies: Proficiency in project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches.
  • Tools Proficiency: Proficient in project and change management tools such as Microsoft Project, JIRA, Trello, or equivalent. Familiarity with project controls, including cost estimation, change control, and scheduling, is preferable.

Preferred Requirements

  • Industry Experience: Experience working in diverse industries or global organizations.
  • Emerging Technologies: Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
