Job description: The Senior Costing Accountant will play an essential role in developing and implementing cost accounting systems and procedures for an industrial/manufacturing business. This position will require a high level of accuracy, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of financial concepts.

  • Oversee and supervise daily Cost Accounting transaction processing to ensure high-quality delivery, focusing on accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Act as the primary contact for stakeholders on Cost Accounting matters within the region, offering first-level support and guidance.
  • Provide assistance in account reconciliation and offer guidance when required.
  • Ensure timely completion of financial close activities in accordance with Group Corporate requirements.
  • Manage and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, following work instructions and checklists.
  • Coordinate closing activities for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end across the Asia Pacific and EMEA regions, collaborating with Local Services and other Financial Services teams for accurate and timely account closure in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to Cost Accounting processes and resolve challenges efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control systems in Cost Accounting processes, adhering to guidelines, and implementing remediation plans if necessary.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Local Services and other teams within the Shared Service Center (SSC) and Center of Excellence.
  • Facilitate updates to work instructions, standard operating procedures, and documentation to address local-specific variations.
  • Assist Local Services with internal and external audits as required.
  • Respond to and resolve queries in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new initiatives in the Cost Accounting process led by the Center of Excellence.
  • Support process improvement and harmonization efforts within the Cost Accounting function.
  • Assist in aligning standard practices across regions and globally, ensuring consistent end-to-end business processes.
  • Undertake additional assignments and projects as needed.
  • Oversee new system testing and integration/functional testing to ensure minimal operational disruptions.
  • Serve as the decentralised role-coordinator for Cost Accounting within SSC APAC.
  • Coach and guide the Cost Accounting team, identifying skill gaps and providing training to enhance team capabilities.
  • Provide backup support for the Team Lead’s daily tasks as needed.
  • Contribute to recruitment, resource planning, onboarding, and knowledge retention within the team.
  • Help improve Cost Accounting productivity by conducting benchmarking exercises and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • In the absence of the Team Lead, temporarily assume leadership responsibilities, reporting directly to the Functional Manager.
  • Assist in resolving accounting issues in consultation with the Team Lead or Functional Manager.

  • Degree or Professional Qualification in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience in product costing and inventory management (preferred).
  • Minimum 6-7 years of relevant work experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
  • Knowledge of IFRS, Cost Accounting processes, and other accounting functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with experience in SAP FICO Module (preferred).
  • Willingness to support APAC and EMEA regions and work according to relevant shift hours
