ID# 6160Role & Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement advanced cost control methodologies and best practices to ensure accurate and efficient cost management.
• Oversee and validate cost accounts, ensuring compliance with project scope, approved budgets, and established procedures.
• Lead the creation and maintenance of cost forecasting models aligned with diverse commercial strategies.
• Manage and track project budgets, identifying and addressing variances, trends, and potential risks.
• Approve and monitor purchase requisitions and ensure proper cost coding allocation.
• Lead change control processes, maintaining the change order register and ensuring the proper evaluation of change requests and orders.
• Analyze potential cost variations and risks, recommending effective mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and deliver regular and ad-hoc cost reports, including cost trends, forecasts, and progress measurements.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of progress curves, deviations, under-runs, and over-runs to inform stakeholders.
• Supervise and mentor cost control teams, fostering professional growth and ensuring high performance.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to align cost control strategies with project objectives.
• Ensure data integrity in cost management systems and adherence to industry standards (e.g., AACEI, PMI).
• Lead efforts to maintain compliance with contractual requirements and company policies.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• University degree in engineering/business administration or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• At least 10 years’ experience in cost management on heavy infrastructure projects
• Experience in a leadership position (team lead, manager, etc.) an asset
• Knowledge of Cost Management best practices (AACEI, PMI, etc.)
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse work team
• Experience in the use and application of cost management systems. Experience in PM+ or Prism is an asset
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of MS Excel and MS Access
• SAP experience
• Commercially astute individual with a strong background in cost analysis
• Experience in claims management and productivity analysis is an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
• Experience working with (or for) large national and international construction contractors considered an asset
• Experience with multiple contracting models and compensation terms including unit rate, lump sum and reimbursable
• Adaptability to perform in demanding work environments
