Tēnei tūranga – About the Role:The Senior Business Systems Advisor plays a leading role in providing support and guidance in the delivery of Standards New Zealand’s (SNZ) digital service offerings to the public.This is a hands-on role coordinating efforts across a wide variety of stakeholders and vendors to diagnose and resolve problems quickly with the goal to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.The Senior Business Systems Advisor is recognised as the conduit for the escalation of issues out to our vendors and play a key part in troubleshooting and optimising SNZs systems. The senior advisor holds a wealth of organisational knowledge of our wider business environment in the context of the technology change we are bringing about for the Ministry and our Public Audience.This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly to customers and stakeholders. The Senior Business Systems Advisor will also support the Senior data Analyst in designing and implementing new system features and troubleshooting data-related issues.In this role you will be responsible for working with business owners, vendors, project teams, and other technical and operational teams within MBIE to:

  • Maintain systems and websites to ensure that they provide robust and secure delivery of services to MBIE teams and the public.
  • Focus on the constant improvement of services provided by the Ministry.
  • Help determine requirements for system and website improvements, develop prioritisation for delivery activities, engage with vendors to manage changes, and co-ordinate communication to stakeholders.

  • Up to date with changes in the technology landscape.
  • You are a subject matter expert for technical, content and experience driven issues with business systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in database administration or a similar role.
  • Credit check and police vetting may be required.
  • You must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
