Job description: We are delighted to be recruiting a Senior Bookkeeper on behalf of our client a property development company based in Dublin to join their finance team.Responsibilities
Manage all day to day accounting transactions for 3 or 4 companies at the one time
Be capable of working in a multi company environment as separate company set up for each specific project and dissolved at end of project with one main company always in existence
Ensure all purchase invoices are posted to correct supplier, correct project and correct GL code
Ensure all bank payments are posted
Reconcile creditors ledger to supplier statements at month end and follow up on all missing invoices
Ensure all sales invoices are posted and in proper layout for a principal contractor situation
Ensure all cash receipts are posted
Reconcile bank accounts
Reconciliation monthly of Project Reports to Trail Balance and WIP valuation
Allocation of general project costs to various projects using agreed % splits
Monthly General ledger journals
Handle monthly and annual closings
Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
Submit bimonthly VAT returns
Set up RCT contract notifications on ROS
Manage subcontractor payment notifications on RCT section of ROS
RCT returns
Processing monthly wages
Requirements and skills
Work experience as a Senior Bookkeeper or a qualified Accountant preferably in the construction industry but not essential
Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures and a thorough understanding of debits and credits, accruals, prepayments, WIP valuation etc
Hands-on experience with accounting software preferably Sage 50 or Quickbooks
Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
Strong attention to detail and strong analytical skills
A flair for spotting errors and corrections asap
Accounting qualification – i.e. minimum AITI and IPASS
a third level business course an additional advantage
Ability to get on in a fast moving environment and deal with ROS and Revenue queries on a regular basis
