Why is this role important?Reporting to the Lead, and working with CIHI program area, technical staff and subject matter experts, the Senior Analyst will provide analytical support in indicator development, data analysis, and reporting solutions for the ODT performance reporting system at CIHI.The Senior Analyst will be responsible for carrying out environmental scans, research, data analysis, reporting and other technical and writing activities related to the development, verification, and enhancement of reporting tools and data health system indicators and measures for ODT. The Senior Analyst will work closely with team members to investigate indicators and related measures for use in public and secure reporting, play a role in the development and testing of reporting products, and will provide professional and timely technical support, communications, and other key client service assistance to stakeholders.What you’ll do1. Responsible for analysis, enhancement, and verification of ODT data, indicators and related measures based on CanODT, CORR, DAD and NACRS databases2. Participates in the design, implementation and enhancements of publicly available and secure access reporting tools in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Supports design and execution of test strategies/test cases and development of related code and scripts.3. Prepares related documentation, interpretation and communication (including technical documentation and presentation) material as required.4. Provides professional and timely technical support to internal and external stakeholders regarding ODT indicators and requests for information, including fulfilling ad-hoc data requests and liaising with stakeholders to fully define data and/or analytical requirements.5. Assists with the methodological development of new analyses and writing as needed, to support ad-hoc special studies, reports, presentations, or articles for publication as required. Supports other analysis, testing and reporting activities of the ODT project as required.6. Develops and maintains knowledge about analytical techniques, statistical and data visualization software, health systems research, and stakeholder information needs.7. Develops and maintains a detailed knowledge of ODT and CIHI’s data holdings (e.g. ODT, CORR, DAD-HMDB, NACRS), methodologies (e.g. case mix), and tools (e.g. Python, Excel), as well as related data held by other organizations and the policies/mechanisms to access these data holdings, to produce standard and ad hoc outputs.8. Ensures adherence to, and ability to demonstrate compliance with, CIHI’s privacy and security policies and procedures when using CIHI data and information.What you’ll bring to the table· Undergraduate degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Information Systems, Health Information Sciences, Health Informatics, Health Sciences or a related academic field. Graduate degree is an asset.· 3 to 5 years of experience and knowledge in health indicators, with sound conceptual knowledge of medical terminology, determinants of health, the measurement of health status, health system performance and Canadian health system and policy.
· Knowledge of medical terminology, quantitative methods and data quality concepts.· Experience with data analysis and statistical software, particularly in Python or other statistical software is essential.
