Location: Hybrid – 3 days on-site (Sydney CBD) and 2 WFH

Team: Data Collection ManagementRole Summary
The Senior Analyst will administer the collection and collation of information in accordance with the reporting framework of the relevant industries and, in doing so, ensure staff and stakeholders have access to on-time data that meets defined data quality levels.Organisational Environment
Data Collection Design and Data Management teams sit within the Chief Data Office function. The Data Office teams are focused on data collection design and management and the delivery of the data publication and reports. The Data Collection Management team is responsible for maintaining collections and managing key information on all reporting entities and their related parties.Key Accountabilities

  • Ensuring financial institutions meet their reporting obligations.
  • Working with the relevant stakeholders to establish standards of data at point of collection, while balancing the burden to financial institutions.
  • Considering how changes to data collection impact downstream distribution of data and identifying appropriate methods to ensure that quality of data collected is fit for use
  • Contributing to the development of actions to effectively monitor and mitigate issues around collection of data.
  • Contributing to the transition of a new data collection system.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with other areas, including frontline supervisors, legal and risk specialists.
  • Ensuring industry data are protected in accordance with secrecy provision of the Act 1998.

Freedom to act
The Senior Analyst ensures staff and stakeholders have access to on-time data that meets defined data quality levels. The majority of decisions made by the position are concerned with developing approaches to data quality, identifying data problems and recommending action to be taken to address concerns.The position will generally have priorities that are determined by the Manager. While the overall project or task may be defined, the position has autonomy to determine the most appropriate way to undertake the tasks. The position is guided by current practice and is also able to recommend alternative course of action.Knowledge/experience requirements for effective performance:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the mission, objectives, functions, processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation in relating to collection administration requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant industries supervised, including up-to-date, broad knowledge of industry trends and regulatory developments.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in designing, implementation and on-going maintenance of robust and efficient operational processes.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Excellent self-organisation skills.

Key result areaTimeliness and Quality outcomes

  • Contribute to the collection and improve the quality of data collected.
  • Provide accurate technical and procedural advice to team members, reporting entities and external clients.
  • Active engagement with the Connect project team and with the relevant experts within the team in developing end to end operational processes.
  • Actively identify potential issues and present possible solutions in consultation with internal subject matter experts.
  • Provide regular updates to the Manager on issues affecting the reporting and quality of data reported by the entities and ensure that issues are resolved effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in establishing and implementing processes that contribute to the timely and quality data being collected.
  • Accurate advice on technical and procedural matters is provided.
  • Adherence to quality and consistency standards is practiced, and actively pursued.
  • Produces work of a consistently high standard and makes appropriate decisions regarding work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Appropriate recommendations made to the management for consideration.

Relationship management

  • Liaise closely with the Senior Manager and team members regarding current and potential issues relevant to role and current projects.
  • Maintain close contact with frontline supervisors and risk teams to remain up to date on emerging areas of concern.
  • Seek assistance from internal experts on complex issues/ processes – both within the team and across the business.
  • Manage relationship between and external clients as required.
  • Mentor new starters to contribute to the team environment, learning and transfer of skills.
  • Participate in internal working groups as the opportunities arise.
  • Close liaison maintained with Manager, other senior analysts and team members.
  • Internal clients are well informed of technical and process issues and make informed decisions.
  • Active participation in internal working groups as opportunities arise.
  • Effective information flows are established with key stakeholders.
  • Active, on-the-job training for new starters.

Business operational management

  • Contribute to divisional and team objectives.
  • Assist junior team members.
  • Promote and contribute to a constructive and supportive team culture.
  • Gather and analyse all information and data available to provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Identify needs for learning and self-development in core technical areas.
  • Actively contributes to the achievement of Organisational and group objectives and projects when opportunities arise.
  • Comprehensive and pertinent information is collected and accurately analysed.
  • Reports are thoroughly prepared and require minimal oversight from Management.
  • Proactively identifies and addresses professional self-development and learning needs.
