Job description: Our Client is looking for an SAP ILM Functional Consultant for a contract engagement.Start: February 2025
Location: Toronto, ON
Work Arrangement: Hybrid. 2-3 days per week onsiteRole:
The SAP ILM Consultant will assist in implementing a comprehensive data retention and destruction solution within our Client’s SAP environment. The solution must ensure compliance with the Enterprise Retention Schedule in accordance with regulatory requirements, specifically focusing on retaining and destroying data from SAP infotypes mapped to compliance codes. This project is focused on compliance rather than data volume management.Scope of Work:Evaluation:

• Conduct an in-depth analysis of the current SAP environment, data management processes, and the Enterprise Retention Schedule.
• Evaluate options (SAP ILM, ADK, custom ABAP) to determine the best solution to meet compliance requirements for mapped SAP infotypes.

Design:

• Collaborate with internal teams to design a comprehensive data retention and destruction solution that adheres to compliance codes and regulatory mandates.
• Develop detailed technical and functional specifications, ensuring alignment with both retention policies and regulatory standards.

Build:

• Develop and configure the selected solution (whether SAP ILM, ADK, or custom ABAP) based on the approved design.
• Customize retention and destruction policies mapped to SAP infotypes in line with the Enterprise Retention Schedule.

Testing (Support):

• Perform unit, integration, and user acceptance testing to ensure the solution functions as expected and meets compliance requirements.
• Ensure that all regulatory and security concerns are addressed, with test cases covering both retention and destruction scenarios.

Implementation:

• Deploy the solution into the production environment, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
• Oversee the migration of any existing data processes to align with the new retention and destruction policies.

Support and Maintenance:

• Provide post-implementation support to address any issues, ensuring smooth operation of the new processes.
• Offer ongoing maintenance services to ensure the solution stays up-to-date with regulatory changes and business needs.

Training:

• Train the Client’s internal resources to manage and maintain the implemented solution effectively.
• Provide documentation and conduct hands-on training sessions for key stakeholders, including technical teams and compliance officers, to ensure sustainability and knowledge transfer.

Requirements and Key Skill Sets:

• Resources with a strong background in compliance-focused data retention projects in SAP, especially for financial institutions.
• Experience in implementing retention policies based on mapped compliance codes.
• Ability to work with both on-premise and cloud-based SAP systems, as needed.
• SAP Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) Expertise:
• Strong knowledge of configuring and implementing SAP ILM for data retention and destruction.
• Experience with setting up and managing retention policies that align with regulatory compliance (e.g., Quebec Law 25, GDPR) and the organization’s Enterprise Retention Schedule.
• Ability to configure automated data destruction workflows linked to compliance codes, particularly for specific SAP infotypes.
• Understanding of ILM in relation to legal hold requirements and audit trails for ensuring compliance with data retention regulations.
• SAP ADK (Archive Development Kit):
• Expertise in leveraging SAP ADK for the retention and destruction of archived data, mapped to compliance codes.
• Experience with designing and implementing archive retention policies based on the Enterprise Retention Schedule and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage archived data in line with retention schedules and compliance needs, ensuring secure data destruction.
• Experience in Financial Institutions:
• Proven track record of working with financial institutions, with a strong understanding of data governance, compliance, and retention requirements in regulated environments.
• Knowledge of regulatory landscapes affecting data retention and destruction, including mapping of infotypes to compliance codes in a financial setting.
• Experience in applying retention policies in accordance with financial regulations and organizational compliance schedules.
• Solution Design and Advisory:
• Ability to analyze the current SAP environment and retention schedule, and recommend the best solution (ILM, ADK, or custom ABAP) for implementing retention and destruction processes.
• Provide guidance on ensuring the solution aligns with compliance requirements, including the setup of retention and destruction based on specific compliance codes for SAP infotypes.
• Ability to design and implement the project while ensuring a seamless transition for ongoing maintenance and compliance by the internal team.
• Custom ABAP Development for Data Retention/Destruction (nice to have):
• Ability to develop custom ABAP programs that implement retention policies based on compliance codes for specific SAP infotypes.
• Experience with customizing retention and destruction rules where ILM may not be applicable.
• Understanding of how ABAP can be used to create retention and destruction processes specific to regulatory schedules, ensuring full compliance with the organization’s Enterprise Retention Schedule.
• Knowledge of best practices in custom development to ensure security and regulatory compliance.

Must have Work Authorization for Canada.
