Job description: How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?The Senior Accountant on the General Ledger Team of the Central Accounting Group is a high-level position, ensuring all general ledger activity is accounted for accurately and timely. This position interacts and works closely with Finance personnel from the Corporate Office and from the Business Units. The person in this role is expected to complete assignments with limited guidance, be the point-person / participate in projects impacting the team, and assist with coordinating month-end closing activities. Flexibility in work hours is required for month-end close and possibly additional hours as needed to complete tasks and support business activities throughout the month. This role is also expected to display leadership qualities by ensuring the team’s centralized email inbox is properly monitored and by providing support to other team members with tasks assigned to them.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and are shared amongst other Senior Accountants on the team. Other duties may be assigned.Complete complex analyses, reports, monthly account reconciliations, and journal entries with limited guidance. Examples include, but are not limited to, Intercompany Reconciliations, Consolidated Sales & Use Tax Reconciliation, System Reconciliations, Cash Account Reconciliations, Personal Property Tax Reconciliations, allocation journal entries, and accrual journal entries.Complete the weekly AP and AR Intercompany Clearing process.Complete the quarterly Inventory Reserve calculation process.Assist with the coordination of month-end closing activities, such as the opening and closing of the accounting periods and assigning tasks to be completed by team members.Participate in projects within the company impacting the General Ledger Team.Review / approve standard journal entries and reconciliations, as assigned by LeadInteract with internal and external auditors; complete data requests as needed for audits.Provide service to internal customers by monitoring the team’s centralized email inbox to post journal entries and to respond to requests received by the field in a timely manner.Provide support to functional users of the SAP general ledger system.Provide back-up coverage for tasks as needed.Ability to travel as job requirements necessitate.Required to make a variety of decisions, some complex in nature, with concern for impact on others, but predominately affecting own area of control.Maintain team training documentation and reference material.Provide support to GL team members and to other teams within the organization.Identify opportunities to enhance/streamline business processes.Escalate non-routine issues to the General Ledger Team Lead / Supervisor.Complete other duties and projects as assigned.Are you a MATCH?Required Education:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.Required Length & Type of Experience:More than 3 years of experience in an accounting role, with demonstrated understanding of accounting concepts.Proven track record of success in prior senior accounting roles.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:A high level of English proficiency is a must.
