Job description: DescriptionResponsibilities:At a minimum, the Applications Architect will:
- Oversee, review, and provide technical guidance on the design and supported IT solutions to meet Ontario and Government Standards on specific platforms. This includes analyzing the technology environment, enterprise specifics, and requirements, setting a collaboration framework, creating solution prototypes, participating in technology selection, controlling solution development, producing design documentation for internal governance, and incorporating security requirements into the design while complying with security standards and policies.
- Develop and apply industry best practices, technology, design, and methodology approaches to system architecture design. Recommend appropriate technology solutions to meet client needs and ensure the development team adheres to organizational reference architecture, development frameworks, and design patterns.
- Support the leadership team in developing strategic plans and roadmaps based on key business drivers. Research and recommend new emerging technologies, techniques, and tools that help achieve strategic goals. Drive solutions to have architecture current state, future state, and transition plans agreed upon, documented, and implemented.
- Provide project management support and work with project teams to ensure software solutions evolve in alignment with industry best practices and technologies. Offer expert technical knowledge and expertise to contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and the formulation of a robust and scalable architecture.
- Ensure that all future solution architectures align with the overall enterprise-wide platform architecture. Establish development standards and design templates, providing direction and guidance to solution developers. Based on the specific platform, contribute to the identification and selection of software, technology, and IT infrastructure, with a focus on delivering cloud-based solutions.
- Ensure compliance with processes and procedures identified by Cyber Security, such as GO-ITS 25.0. Lead one or more technical innovation tracks to assess and realize the potential of technologies under focus (e.g., Microservices Architecture, Service-Oriented Architecture, DevOps). Plan and execute innovation projects through various stages: Explore, Prototype, Pilot, and Full Rollout.
- Effectively communicate and socialize innovation outcomes to achieve client and industry connections. Mentor and manage technical team members to enable deep specialization and ensure high-speed innovation.

- Hands-on experience writing Java code and using integration technologies such as ESB, Java/JEE, and application and web server technologies. Provide end-to-end solution design, development, and unit testing, along with recommendations to achieve business outcomes in alignment with business requirements, Cluster reference architecture, and Ministry-specific objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and support delivery outcomes.
- Develop code following SA development standards, architectural governance principles, and design patterns in the development of end-to-end solutions.
- Experience in the design and implementation of REST API integrations and best practices.
Methodology, Testing, and Troubleshooting (30%)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Experience working in an agile development environment.
- Ability to provide user and system documentation as required.
- Contribute to the effective management of risks and issues associated with solution designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and distributed teams, including designers, developers, architects, project managers, and QA.

- Perform thorough code reviews, including unit tests, to ensure high quality of the software.
- Fix defects and support developers, testers, and end users.
Planning, Documentation, and Communication (20%)
- Prepare work plans with CYSSC Managers, report and adjust completion status, and report issues and risks in a timely manner.
- Write technical documentation that supports and thoroughly explains the architecture.
- Deliver knowledge transfer sessions to the team on the work completed.
MUST HAVES:
- 7-10 years of experience as an Applications Architect in large-scale business and I&IT transformation projects involving more than 1000 users.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with relevant software, particularly Cúram.
- Strong understanding of the processes and steps involved in leveraging architecture models for specifying functional and non-functional requirements as inputs to the implementation process.
- Proven experience as a technical lead, providing hands-on support to other developers.
- Hands-on experience in writing Java code and using integration technologies, including ESB, Java/JEE, and application and web server technologies.
- Significant experience in large-scale case management implementations.
- Technical expertise in enhancing, configuring, customizing, and integrating case management systems with external or related applications.
- Experience in conducting requirements elicitation, fit-gap analysis, design, and development phases in large Cúram or COTS implementations.
- Ability to advise and provide technical recommendations on infrastructure, data conversion, reporting, and interfaces.
