Please direct any accommodation requests to our recruitment team.Primary functionThe Roster Management (RM) department is responsible for working with the District Offices to oversee Legal Aid Ontario’s (LAO’s) roster of approximately 4,100 third-party independent service providers. This oversight includes reviewing applications to join the roster, providing legal opinions and recommending courses of action to internal LAO staff to resolve issues.RM Officers will primarily be responsible for reviewing and processing roster applications from private bar lawyers across the province, administering LAO’s Conditional Authorization and Duty Counsel Renewal Processes, and administering LAO’s Roster Resignation process. The RM department is currently in the process of centralizing the administrative processing of roster applications. District Offices will retain the decision-making authority over the composition of the local roster. RM Officers will be expected to assist with monitoring and onboarding roster members thereby helping to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost effective and efficient legal aid services to clients across all areas of law.In addition to reviewing and processing roster applications, RM Officers will also be expected to provide support and direction to the District Office, including recommending appropriate conditions, responding to general inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, providing support to staff lawyers, monitoring conditions of roster membership, administratively processing removals and resignations, supporting the implementation of key departmental initiatives and assisting with reporting and file management.Reports to: Manager, Roster Membership Services.Role Designation: Flexible Hybrid. The current requirement is for staff to attend the office one (1) day per week or four (4) times a month.Key accountabilities
