Job description: Role SummaryThe Group Leader will lead a component of ICR-CTSU’s clinical trials portfolio, developing it in line with the Unit’s strategy and overseeing ongoing and new trials.We seek an experienced biostatistician with a strong interest in clinical trials methodology and a passion for leading academic trials. The successful candidate will work closely with the ICR-CTSU Director to enhance the Unit’s internationally recognised strength in trial design, conduct, and analysis. They will make a substantial independent intellectual contribution and proactively lead initiatives that improve ICR-CTSU’s overall effectiveness. The appointee will also contribute to the ICR’s scientific life, including the new ICR/Royal Marsden Centre for Trials and Population Data Science, by mentoring junior colleagues and serving as an academic leader.The ideal candidate will collaborate with ICR faculty and national/international opinion leaders to expand ICR-CTSU’s biologically rich trials portfolio. In partnership with clinical leaders, they will secure funding to deliver cutting-edge research. Presentation at major conferences, high-quality research outputs, and contributions to wider clinical trial networks are expected. Enthusiasm for collaborative, interdisciplinary team science is essential.The appointment will be based on track record and the ability and willingness to engage in team science. The successful appointee will have access to ICR’s successful PhD training programme and core facilities.Application RequirementsCandidates should hold a higher degree (MSc or PhD) in medical statistics, biostatistics, or a related field, with significant experience in clinical trials and a strong understanding of cancer research. They should demonstrate leadership ability, a collaborative approach, and a passion for applying innovative statistical methods.
