IWC’s main areas of activities are Applied Research, Education, Engagement and Training. Since our inception, we have grown to become a significant contributor to knowledge generation and capacity development in the global water sector and an important feature of the Australian ‘water landscape’. We play a role in stimulating and brokering relationships between Australian and international academics, researchers and practitioners, to collectively strengthen integrated water management approaches. This role in brokering collaborations allows us to lead and participate in teams that are larger than we are, and is central to the high level of our productivity and performance. IWC is situated within the (ARI), located at the Nathan campus of Griffith University (GU), Australia.We undertake research to national and international standards, achieving the highest quality outcomes. We aggregate research activities, attract external funding exceeding national averages, and actively partner with industry, government, and the broader scientific community to meet the challenge of balancing humanity’s growth whilst maintaining functional ecosystems and associated services.We support high-quality research training for Higher Degree Research students and provide a supportive and productive research environment, including mentoring for early career researchers.Job DescriptionAs Project Coordinator, International WaterCentre (IWC), you’ll undertake a variety of activities to support the work of the International WaterCentre, including communications, logistics, and essential project management.In this role, you will also:

  • Support the design and delivery and provide logistical support to IWC engagement events such as Conferences and Community of Practice (CoP) network events.
  • Plan and manage IWC communications through various platforms and activities, including social media, website, newsletters and email networks. This involves coordinating and assisting to develop communications content with IWC staff.
  • Assist in the communication of IWC performance and impact to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide high level administrative support to various Chief Investigators to ensure the successful implementation of various projects, such as financial reporting, arranging travel / accommodation and processing of expenses, purchase orders and payment requests.
  • Draft reports, minutes, correspondence and other materials related to the successful delivery of engagement activities, and support project output delivery through reviewing, proofing and formatting project reports and products.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in a relevant environment, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • A proven track record in successful project management, including budget planning, reporting, risk and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and oral communication skills particularly in relation to communicating with and building effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and agencies.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational and administrative skills including excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure and within specific deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with autonomously, exercise initiative and apply sound judgment and problem solving skills as well as to work effectively in a small project team environment in order to deliver outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate events and activities under broad direction and supervision.
  • Ability to undertake desktop research and to prepare relevant reports, minutes, proposals, and other general correspondence and communications.
  • Demonstrated high-level computer, digital literacy and keyboard skills, as well as demonstrated experience in website maintenance; willingness to learn new systems as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of university administrative procedures would be desirable.

What we can offer
This is a fixed term (until 31 December 2025), Part time (40% to 80%) or full time position primarily based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 6 range $89,603 – $ 95,575 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $104,835 – $111,823 per annum.Additional InformationWhy join Griffith?
