Why is this role important?The Program Lead, Financial Standards and Information oversees the creation and dissemination of value-added information across the spectrum of care using data largely from the Canadian MIS Database (CMDB) and the Canadian Patient Costing Database (CPCD). The role is responsible for leading the development of an analytical program of work, including the development and maintenance of new and existing indicators and products.What you’ll do1. Provides leadership and guidance to a team of analysts and senior analysts. Supervises, coaches, coordinates and monitors work, workload and performance of staff to ensure that quality is maintained and that learning opportunities are provided. Conducts annual performance management reviews.2. Leads and supervises the design, development, and dissemination of analytical products and information (e.g., health system performance reporting, Patient Cost Estimator). This includes indicators, analyses, briefing notes and other relevant information products. Ensures appropriate data verification and preparation prior to publication and release.3. Prepares senior level briefings and summaries to support the release and dissemination of publicly available data and analysis.4. Develops and implements project plans to align with broader FSI and corporate timelines. Manages risks and implements mitigation plans as needed.5. Leads the methodological development of new indicators and data tables including the relevant conceptual and data quality analyses. Consults with internal and external stakeholders as required.6. Contributes to the on-going efforts to improve data quality, in close collaboration with other FSI Program Leads.7. Supports stakeholders in the use and understanding of FSI products, including facility-level indicators and results.8. Leads the interprovincial billing rate program in collaboration with Health Canada, using CMDB and CPCD data. Leads production of billing rates and development of new methodologies as needed.9. Develops comprehensive, integrative knowledge of programs and services across CIHI to facilitate the development of best practice initiatives and continuous quality improvement efforts within CIHI’s hospital data assets.10. Establishes and maintains the relevant professional contacts at the provincial and national levels.11. Contributes to the promotion of CIHI products and services through participation on external committees, presentations and/or attendances at conferences, preparation of articles for publication and other activities, as required.What you’ll bring to the table

  • An undergraduate degree in health services or business administration, economics, mathematics, accounting, quantitative methods or similar field.
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience working with large health-related databases. Experience with the CMDB and/or the CPCD would be an asset.
  • One to three years’ supervisory experience, including mentoring and coaching staff.
  • Conceptual understanding of health, the Canadian health care system, as well as a sound knowledge of health information and its uses for policy development, planning, management and evaluation purposes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Python and other data analytics/management tools, such as SAS, R.
  • Experience in managing complex project(s) with various stakeholder groups, including budgetary and timeline accountability
  • Knowledge and experience using the MIS Standards, Case Mix, and Clinical Administrative Databases (CAD) is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of quality assurance, continuous quality improvement, data quality and their application to administrative databases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to fulfill travel requirements.
  • Fluency in English is required bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
