Access theAs Principal Portfolio Analyst in the Portfolio Management Office (PfMO), you will provide high-quality advice and evidence-based analysis to support management of the 10-year transport infrastructure portfolio. You will also work across various functions within the PfMO to support and advise on portfolio, program and benefits management aspects that ensure efficient, effective and fit-for-purpose policies, processes and practices are embedded throughout the transport infrastructure portfolio.Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high-quality advice and evidence-based analysis to support decisionmaking for the portfolio definition process and ongoing management of the transport infrastructure portfolio.
  • Contribute to and support various PfMO tasks across the portfolio, program and benefits management disciplines, including portfolio-level risks and issues management, benefits and program management assurances and statewide

portfolio-systems management.

  • Contribute to and support the development and updating of TMR and whole-ofgovernment policies, strategies and/or infrastructure pipelines and provide advice and input into various information requests, submissions, briefing notes and recommendations where applicable.
  • Proactively review, advise and contribute to business improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency of TMRs’ portfolio, program and benefits management approaches, including applicable methodologies, standards, guidelines, processes and tools.
  • Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders on transport infrastructure portfolio-related matters and actively participate in conversations that build TMRwide capability, taking a customer-focused approach.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in using program and project management systems (3PCM), and an ability to apply advanced Excel skills and/or use data analysis tools such as PowerBI.
  • Ability to apply strong financial acumen skills to understand, analyse, manage, report and/or provide options and recommendations on complex portfolio or program-related data.
  • Experience in assessing risks and issues, managing assurance processes and/or leading business change initiatives related to portfolio, program and benefits management approaches, guidelines, processes or tools.
  • Effective written communication skills, particularly for drafting complex government submissions, briefing notes, reports, emails and recommendations.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders to enable the collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, contributing to a learning and knowledge-sharing culture.
  • Knowledge and certification in Portfolio, Program and Project Offices (P3O®) or Managing Successful Programs (MSP®) desirable.
