Apply advanced Petrophysical expertise and professional judgment in delivering assigned projects and present completed analysis and recommendations at peer reviews, peer assists and functional reviews. May act as reviewer for other projects.The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.Main tasks and responsibilities
- Perform Value of Information analysis and cost analysis on subject related to petrophysical data acquisition or analysis.
- Plan, prepare and supervise conventional and non-conventional petrophysical data acquisition (FMI, Segma, VSP, MRI, etc.) including wireline and MWD/LWD logs, core measurements (conventional and SCAL), formation pressure measurements (including fluid sampling) and production logging.
- Proactively review and updates existing data quality control procedures and monitor its application to maintain consistent acquired data quality, including quality checks and standards.
- Ensure appropriate rock and fluid properties evaluation procedures are carried out. Evaluate rock properties such as porosity, permeability, and lithology. Assess fluid types (oil, gas, water) and their saturations in the reservoir rocks.
- Apply advanced techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or image log analysis.
- Work with other team members to carry out subsurface evaluation and analysis to propose well locations and pick wells to fulfil business needs as well as defining necessary data gathering.
- Work within a multi-functional team to develop realistic resource size distributions and objective risk assessments. Provides PP relevant reservoir and fluid parameters (both ranges and averages), paying particular attention to uncertainties.
- Ensure deployment of new technology (including new software) in the PP arena and align such technology to OQEP Upstream.
- Provide operations support as and when required.
- Attend Technical Committee Meetings on behalf of OQEP Upstream as and when required to cover for PP elements (for both exploration and production).
- Act as Lead PP in prescribing and undertaking field studies in support of reservoir description & characterization, for static and dynamic reservoir model builds.
- Play an active role in PP discussion raising OQEP Upstream profile by participating in national and international geo-science conferences and workshops.
- Establish and formulate workflows, best practices and procedures for OQEP upstream, in the PP function.
- Stand in for the Exploration Operated Assets team lead duties as and when required.
- Ensure all evaluations and reports are documented in accordance with company’s Data Management Standards.
- Coach & mentor junior PP and interns to ensure their development.
- Ensure work is carried out in accordance with the Company HSE and Security policies and procedures and meet company HSE goals and targets and participate in HSE programs.
- Actively participate in, contribute to, and promote company occupational health, safety, security and environment culture.

- 12+ years of relevant experience in similar role with an operator, preferably with experience in Exploration or New Ventures within the Middle East region.
- Track record on prospects identification and quantification of reservoirs potential resources and associated risking.
- Sufficient exposure is required in logging operations, core measurements, laboratory experiment follow up, data interpretation, and logging contractor follow up and integrated reservoir studies.
- Assesses new technology and defines areas of applications. Liaises with contractors to improve resource utilization and optimization, carries out technical audits and provides specialist support to all areas of Petrophysics.
- Knowledgeable in petrophysical and geological analysis integration.
- Ability to work on a variety of tasks in addition to traditional PP/evaluation responsibilities such as presentations for internal and external audiences, farm-in evaluations and assessment of production sharing contracts and joint operating agreements within the realm of Development and Exploration as well as creation and review of PP related contract (e.g. software contract)
- Proficiency on the Techlog software.
- Ability to work in integrated teams and can interact effectively with geoscientists and reservoir, operations, drilling and facilities engineers.
- Leading multidisciplinary integrated teams and contribution to exploration opportunity risking and ranking.
- Has participated or contributed to technical reviews, audits, and preparation of Field Development Plans or Field Strategy Notes.
- Initiative-taker with the ability to conduct complex assignments with minimal supervision.
