Ko ake mahi – What you’ll doThis is a pivotal role where you will provide financial leadership, strategic advice, and decision support to senior leaders, including Tier 2 and 3 managers, the CFO, and Deputy CFOs. Your work will help shape the financial direction of the Ministry and support Crown Entities in achieving their performance goals.
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Provide advice to shape Crown Entity strategic financial planning and develop metrics to monitor performance against objectives.
- Decision Support: Deliver timely, accurate advice to senior leaders on financial performance, budgets, and performance measures.
- Forecasting and Insights: Support managers in preparing forecasts, identifying pressures, and realising opportunities to manage budgets effectively.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop and lead financial monitoring frameworks for Health Crown Entities, providing insights into financial operations and integrated advice to stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring their needs are addressed effectively.
- Innovative Financial Solutions: Develop practical and innovative financial options to support business outcomes and align with strategic objectives.
- Risk Management: Identify and proactively manage fiscal risks, providing high-quality advice and solutions to decision-makers.
Ko pūkenga – What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualification in a finance or relevant field, Chartered Accountant or similar qualification required
- Strong analytical skills combined with an ability to analyse detailed financial and non-financial data and provide related advice in simple and clear ways to enable effective decisions
- Experience providing proactive, objective and high-quality financial advice, information and analysis and interpretation on business performance issues
- Ability to foster good stakeholder relationships that are internal and external to the Ministry through consultation and partnership
- Proven ability to work under pressure and with little supervision to meet deadlines, set priorities and meet the requirements of a range of stakeholders in a high performing and evolving environment
- An understanding of machinery of government and health system operation
